    To all the faithful followers, friends and family...It is with a heavier heart than you will ever know that I must let you know that Andy "Cooch" Cuccia has passed away. It was very sudden and very unexpected. I don't mean for this to seem impersonal but he had so many friends and acquaintances I did not know how else to reach you all. I write this as a way to let you all know, and more so as a way to help me wrap my head around this. Each of you had a part of his heart and you all shared his passion for the Delta and those big pigs! Keep those memories with you, always.

    He was always a big part of WesternBass, hosting the Pro-Teen, the first cover of the magazine. He will be greatly missed.

    Coincidentally, WB had shown off Cooch and his nine pounder he caught this week, in today's Delta report. We hope everyone remembers him like this ... happy with the big one.

    70th Annual Rio Vista Striper Festival. Rio Vista turns to Fair Weekend as anglers from all over participate in the longest running derby in the West!

    Capt. Stan Spinners continue to lead the charge for the trolling anglers. Wow! It’s great to here first time anglers giving credit to our salmon set-ups! The cooler evening temps have helped the bite tremendously. Also Cranking Bandit 200 hundred cranks smacking the Smallies

    Walnut Grove Fishing Report
    Solid Salmon reports in the area with temperatures return more fall like. Best area has been Courtland to Walnut grove. Bank anglers using liver’s and cut baits prevail for those searching for Whiskerfish. The Sacramento Turning Basin is still decent here as there continues to be stripes caught there by lure tossers. Hair jigs and small shad patterns are the top choices here as well..

    Keep the Reaction baits tied on as Crankbaits and Chatterbaits are scoring bass on the main runway rock walls. Bass pushing the 3 to 4 pounds mark are showing on occasion Prank Poppers and swim jigs are the best for numbers . Plenty of juvenile stripers are in the area as well.

    Water Temp: 70 degrees

    Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

    Report: Fished out of Russo's Marina. Hit the water around 10AM, about one hour before high tide. Fished until 2PM. Caught approximately 9 fish varying in size from dink to 3 pounds. Caught fish using shallow diving crank bait in red crawdad color, jigging with 1/2 ounce black jig with flappin' hog in black and in blue colors, also caught a bunch of smaller fish inside the weed lines using wacky rigged STICK-O bait in black/red flake color.
    Almost no wind yesterday. 88 degrees. Pristine conditions for some low pressure fishing.

    Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

    Report: Started the morning fishing points, outgoing tide, witnessed plenty of shad jumping just about everywhere, threw crank baits and produced a couple of keeper sized fish but amazingly when the fish saw the boat they for some reason came off the hook like they really didn't commit to taking it.
    Had fish come off of creature baits also, almost was like a spawning season bite, most fish caught were 12 1/2 ", weighed 1 that was thirteen "
    Also received a lot of bites but when setting the hook there was Nada. caught a small punch fish also.

    Launched at B and W around 530 with a good high tide, we then ran up river a few miles and started fishing the main river throwing frogs and senkos. It was bitting great with the occasional better fish until we ran into this skinny girl, which went 8lbs even. As soon the the tide fell out so did the bite. We continued to scratch rats untill 2 when we left.

    Crankbaits and Chatterbaits are scoring bass on the main runway rock walls. Bass pushing the 4 to 6 mark are showing on occasion Bladed Jigs and swim jigs are the best for numbers . My Buddy Kevin has reported some solid Catfishing with 4-to-6 Pound cats in The Indian Slough Area.

    Salmon? Still a trickling in..A few reports of Salmon grabbing Mepp’s and DDO spinners. Still not great yet but hope in the next week or so. So far 11 Salmon reports from Antioch area.     Report: For 16 years the Snag Proof Open Tournament has been one of the largest events on the Delta for bass anglers that enjoy summertime topwater fishing. AUGUST 5 AND 6TH, The Original Frog Tourney Returns The CA Delta Snag Proof Open, Russo’s Marina. This is a favorite for Dirty D anglers!     Water Temp: 73.5-77

    Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

    Report: Fish first light to afternoon. North delta on low tide with incoming tide. Start off with topwater with lots action but only dinks to 1.5lb. Warm water 76-77. Decided to move more north and fish east windy bank, temp at 73.5-75. Good reaction bite from dinks to 2.5lb. Move tulle island, flipping and frogging. Few 1lber on flip and no taker on frog. Call it a day early due to heat and work on Monday. Is definitely a number day about 25-30 fish but no quality. Top 5 under 10lbs.

    Tips: Run and gun. Hope to find quality. Seem like every stops there's fish just 1lb avg.

Megastrike Buzz baits getting a lot of attention. Wadda Jig bite on points is also decent!

    Report: Fished from little Mandeville to Cruiser Haven, threw the frog the majority of the day, allot of blow ups but no takers,
    also threw the green pumpkin black flake senko, threw small whopper plopper and still caught small fish.
    Water temps 76-79 degrees, fished incoming tide and outgoing tide, Most fish caught were on speed trap (yellow) in stained water. also witnessed bedding blue gills.
    Did allot of running , still breaking in the boat.

    Report: CALIFORNIA DELTA FISHING REPORT, Weekend 7/14/2017:
    Water Temp. Mid to High 70's.
    Water Clarity: Stained 1 -2 feet
    Caught most Largemouth Bass Flipping Zoom Speed Worm in Purple Red Flake.
    Hit Mats for frog bite. Most Blowups came early morning or late afernoon. Had to cover miles between blowups.
    M.S. Slammer Rat imitation took some fish late afternoons. D/S 7 inch Robo also worked when bite became tough late morning.
    1/2oz. Cooch's Wadda Jig and Strike King Red Eye Shad also put points on the board.

    Cool water deep into the system has good conditions ahead as Salmon opener is here Sunday! Stripes are in the area as anglers recover from the furnace blast of heat in the Walnut Grove area as the trolling bite is OK mostly small fish. Best area has been Courtland to Walnut grove.     Contra Loma Fishing Report
    Still big bass grabbing baits! Whopper Ploppers lead the charge. Try fishing for catfish at Channel Point, Loma Island or from a boat with nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Trout are biting on nightcrawlers at Channel Point, near the swim area, or from a boat. Try fishing for crappie or bluegill with jigs or worms at the boat ramp area, Loma Island or Channel Point area.

    Los Vaqueros Fishing Report
    Wind has been brutal at times. The Best bet is fishing with cut baits with all the hungry small stripers around. Trout are a bit slower but still caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been ok with some limits being caught from all around the reservoir.
