    USFWS determines populations are stable or increasing thanks to proactive conservation efforts PHOENIX — A frog species in Arizona and southern Nevada does not need federal protection under the Endangered Species Act, thanks to the multi-partner conservation efforts of the Arizona Game and Fish Department, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and other federal and state agencies that make up the Relict Leopard Frog Conservation Team. The Fish and Wildlife Service has determined that relict leopard frog populations are stable or increasing.

TheDraft FHR 2017 PSN includes focuses for the Fisheries Restoration Grant Program, the Steelhead Report and Restoration Card Program, the Forest Land Anadromous Restoration Program and the Commercial Salmon Stamp Program.

    California: Ivory Ban Now in Effect

    Signed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. last October, a new law banning the sale of nearly all ivory in the state of California is effective as of July 1, 2016. The ban, which can be found in California Fish and Game Code, section 2022, encompasses teeth and tusks of elephant, hippopotamus, mammoth, mastodon, walrus, warthog, whale and narwhal.

    Commercial and Recreational Rock Crab Fisheries Open near Channel Islands

    State waters around the Channel Islands are now open to both the recreational and commercial rock crab fisheries. Today, the director of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), after consultation with the director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and the Fish and Game Commission (Commission) that they recommend lifting the remaining closure within the Channel Islands exclusion area between Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa islands.

    Three Cited in Louisiana For Over-Limit Red Drum

    The agent cited Donisote Santos, 53, of Chalmette, Jose Goronci, 43, of Metairie, and Jose DiSalva, 49, of Kenner, for taking over the limit of red drum and taking over the limit of red drum in excess of 27 inches. DiSalva was also cited for not possessing basic or saltwater fishing licenses.
