Whiskey slough storage facility

Post by Niners »

Hi I was wondering if anyone has used the whiskey slough storage facility for housing and launching their boat and what type of experience they’ve had ? I’m looking into doing a 6 month contract with them. Thanks

I’ve been keeping my boats stored there for about 15 years. It’s a pretty good value for what you pay. When I first started it was $179 and month and after 7 or so years it went up to $199 a month. Recently the price went up to $229 a month, so it should be a few years before the price goes up again.

The positives are it’s a full valet service. They charge the batteries, launch your boat and take the boat out when you’re finished. I think something like 6 launches a month are free and at the rate I fish, I’ve never paid for a launch. Fernando and Brian are the guys that handle your boat and they are both professional, personable and respect your boat. The launch is closed to the public, so there’s never any traffic around the ramp. They have an online launching reservation app, so making an appointment is easy. Fernando and Brian are also willing to help you out when you have problems. I flip them some cash when they do something for me that’s outside the contract. There’s gas on the water at Tiki Lagun at reasonable prices by gas dock standards. There’s also gas further away at Bullfrog Marina. I’m sure there are others, those are the two I know about.

The negatives are they don’t really wipe down your boat after use like the contract says. I’ve complained a couple times and just gave up. They have no gas pumps on site. Another negative is you can’t get launched any earlier than 7:00am. They will launch your boat the night before and tie it to a dock, but do you really want your boat full of tackle and expensive electronics exposed to a dock that has access by water? They lock their gates at night but the docks are still accessible. I rarely fish in the afternoons but I think you have to have them pull your boat out of the water by 5:00pm.

Overall it’s a good experience for me. It’s nice to not have to tow my boat, launch it or pull it out and if I want to take it to a lake I have access to it. At my age it takes most of the work out of it.

I've only had my boat there since last November and agree with most of Monte's response. There are actually 8 launches included and the cost is $239/mo. I bring fuel jugs to fill the boat but if you want to buy fuel on the water, there are other marinas close by. Friendly staff, no regrets at this point other than using the service does limit the time you can access your equipment. You can leave the boat out overnight tied to the courtesy dock for an earlier start. Stack storage in a new warehouse built onsite out of the weather. No towing which is a plus. Limited to fishing the Delta for now with the mussel issue anyway, going to need a second boat to fish anywhere else.

The price is dependent on the length of your boat in $10 increments. I have a 19’6” boat which costs $229 a month. If you’re paying $239 I suspect your boat is at least 20 or 21 feet. The least one can pay there is $229 a month. Living 45 minutes from my boat I tend to let little things with the boat go longer than I would if it were in my garage or driveway. I’ve been a delta only fisherman for about the last 30 years, so this setup is a no brainer for me.

It’s too bad they don’t have a referral program. I recently had one of my buddies sign up there and I didn’t get squat!
