Wouldn't recommend a Pfluger...They're components are garbage. Most people I know, curse their name..LOL. With fishing reels, more often than not, you get what you pay for. I'm a Daiwa guy, but if you were set on buying either an Abu or Pfluger, I'd go with the Abu...much better quality and components.

For a bit more, you could get a Daiwa "Super-tuned" Advantage: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage ... TDACA.html
A VERY smooth reel...this thing is buttah in your hands....Just my .02

Go with the new Citica or Curado E series, great reels for the price.

Hands down...go with the Revo. I was a die hard Shimano guy and a friend turned me on to the Revos and I have been using them lately and love em.

I have both and use both..The Trion is heavier and in truth not as well made..I have had no problems with mine at all, but I know a lot of people have..If you keep the maintenance up on them, they will last and get the job done..

The Revo is lighter in weight, my only complaint with mine was trying to get the controls set properly to prevent backlashing..For some reason, my oversized fingers just couldn't do it right..Also keep an eye out on the knurl screw that holds the side plate on..I have heard of more than one coming loose and the sideplate ending up in the water..I have seen it happen once, but not on my reel..Once adjusted properly, the Revos cast like a dream..

Just stay away from the Quantum's! I bought 4 of the PT Tours this year. what a piece of crap they are. I have always been a die hard shimano guy as well and switched to Daiwa. I also throw left handed and the Shimano Fuego is hard to beat. They are selling new for about 150 and retailers are selling them for 229.

I just got my first Shimano Curado E7 yesterday. Smooth as butter and it's a 7.1 ratio. Cant wait to try it. I wish they made the Curado E5's in a left handed. I emailed shimano a month ago and havent heard if they will. Im sure they will eventually.

Read ALL the reviews before you buy. Check out this site http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/ . There are thousands of posts on all sorts of reels. I did my fair share of research as well. I think the REVO is a great reel. As long as you pick one of the three I dont think you can go wrong.

The biggest benefit in the Daiwa over the Shimano is have the adjustment on the outside vs. pulling off the cover and adjusting inside. Makes is a breeze to adjust it with the wind blowing.

I noticed that too. Shimano Fuego - I think he meant the Daiwa.

I would cast my vote for the new Curados then the Revos.

I have the Daiwa 'Super-tuned' Advantage. It actually a little too big for my hands so I only use it for my reaction baits. If I used it for pitching/ flipping I'm sure my hands would be exhausted and in pain by the end of the day.

Team NGC, what are you planning on using the reel for?

Older green curado 100b's are probably dollar for dollar the best reel ever made. You can still find them new on ebay. This one is going for more than the old retail price that should tell you something.

Ditto on the Curado vibe. But, if you are bent on the Revo, here's a link. Get two and save.
