3/4 oz hopkins Bucktail has been my standard for years, the last couple of years Lake Fork Spoons and Talon Spoons have added a new and different tactic for Delta Lineside Spooning...

Ok not so new, these spoons react more like those hand made spoons I grew up fishing. Actually Home made cut stainless and some made of cut Hudson bumpers...

Dan

I have never spooned in the delta for stripers, can you explain what type of situation you look for when spooning. I have spooned for LMB in lakes, all a vertical type presentation. Is it the same for stripes and dose the same apply for using Buck tail jigs????

I have a buddy back east that Capt.'s half the year for stripers in the D.C. area and the other half sailfishing off SC and Florida. He was telling me the hot thing back there is to slow trolling this new 12" spoons. Says its been a tourney secret for the past year or so......Different spoon but I'm sure you could cast them and slow roll them or cast and troll with the TM right thru schools.

Duh!!! I mean blade runner are really good. Hopkins I use more cuz there cheaper and are the Senko of the spoon world. Luhr jenson makes a spoon called a crocodile, don't be afraid to throw the giant 6" ones. Big castmasters are a must to. I use cb glass 702, 703, 754, depending on the weight of the spoon. You lose less fish with a spoon on a rod that's parabolic. The giant crocdile and 3 ounce kastmasters put them on your mod fast 800 or whatever swim bait rods.

If you get to orangvale pm me and I will show you what I am talkin about. 1 month you will find me at the rio vista bridge and the one by Brannon island. I would start there to gain confidence. It's a fun technique that's not just limited to spoons. a 1/2 ounce fishtrap or hammer is awsome
