WARNING! Lake El Salto Vacation

Post by BAble »

We just returned from a trip with Pro Bass Adventures.

Never, ever book with them for the following reasons:

They treat you like royalty - you will never wish to work again...
The food is endless and absolutely the best - gain 10 lbs.
The guide was terrific and put us on fish for 3 days - arms sore!

Honestly - I couldn't imagine booking with anyone else!! I am sure other outfitters also do a good job but we were treated better than family and not like customers. My wife and I had numerous double hookups and she caugt two huge fish on one cast.
If you wish a trip of a lifetime contact Doug at; www.mexicofishing.net

what do you think the entire trip cost you for a single person? Which airline did you use? Where did you fly from and to?

Just need to know how much money to start saving!!

Thanks,

My cousin Julio can get good deals on trips there. If you dont mind riding a donkey thru a underground tunnels. Then he has deals on rafts once your ready to fish.

All kidding aside, I heard from someone else about the above mensioned....they had a blast....sounds like a good outfit to use

Great deal but save your money

Post by Guest »

two days at clear lake this summer cost less than $100 a day.
All we did was catch 50 fish a day with our best 5 going 25 pounds or better each day......Oh, in case you think I was fishing with Jimmy Reese, Guess again....My wife had two over 5 while catching 12 herself and my granddaughter (age 9) caught 5 up to 3 pounds (her first day ever fishing). While I'm sure el salto is good....I'd rather spend my money here in AMERICA and have just as good a day fishing.

tight lines.

hey korny.. going back to el salto again in january . for the 6th time.. i agree clear lake is a lot cheaper. BUT the day you decribed at clear lake is a bad morning at el salto .. we'd be complaining at lunch .. clear lake is GREAT .. the delta is GREAT but neither compare to el salto if all you consider is the fishing and the accomadations.. just my .02 and once again its a lot more expensive .... bob g

Also, consider with that logic we would never:
Go out to eat...much cheaper to eat at home
go on a cruise...just get in your own boat and float around
Go hunting....much cheaper to buy by the pound

Sometimes it is about getting away for the experience, and not just about the pure cost factors. New place, people, wildlife, etc.

Well, the trip we are giving away at the Folsom Bass League this season is worth $2000. Its 4-nights and 3.5 guided days at Anglers Inn (a 5-star resort). There are cheaper alternatives and more expensive ones. It all depends on what you are looking for.

If anyone is planning a trip down there, give Steve Babbidge a call or send him an Email at Hook Adventure Travel http://www.ElSaltoBass.com and tell him you were referred by the FBL.

or you can just catch the largest bass (of the season) at one of our regular tournaments this year and have the entire trip paid for (less airfaire). :D

the basic trip is 1995.. mazatlan to mazatlan so you have to add airfare which right now is 487 then there are tips for the guides and crew so i would think total is about 2800.. worth every penny if you can afford it bob g

sure agree with your statement . i used to go to northern canada and it was much more expensive ..you can't explain seeing a brown bear scale a cliff or having a pod of dolphins swim along with you ..or have a whale surface twenty feet from your boat and scare the bee jesus out of you . i had a friend that said you spent $$$ and brought home #### pounds of fish ??? look at it that way and you will miss a lifelong experience. one you can't get buying fish at safeway ....bob g

The 4n/3d all inclusive trip with Pro Bass Adventures (fishing from a Ranger boat with Lowrance electronics and Minnkota trolling motor vs. aluminum boats used by all other Salto operations) is $1395 Oct-Dec and May-July, and $1695 Jan-April.

There are also VIP pkg options, fishing with the absolute best guide on the lake (American - Erin Rogers) and either bringing you own gear, or having Erin supply all high quality rods, reel, baits.
He puts more people on double digit fish than ANY guide at ANY lake...ANYWHERE!

Have any of you guys been to both Anglers Inn and a trip with Bass Adventures? Differences?? I went to Anglers Inn this year and it was great. But it looks like Bass Adventures is less expensive. Why?

Bob Ya, thats what I thought. But Bass Adventures does advertise as being on the water. There is that big place just a little south of Anglers. Who books out of there?? I do remember that pink or was it yellow place on the way in. Talked to a guy on the water who was staying there and he said it wasn't much of a place.

Pro Bass Adventures uses the Hotel in La Cruz which is 20 mins from the lake. The rooms were very large and had A/C, frig, TV (with 2 english speaking channels) and has its own bar and rest. We were very please with staying there and the van trip each day is no big deal. Most of the trip is spent fishing and it was sure nice to have a ranger boat to fish out of. The cost was $1395 each and for us it was worth it. Before I booked I spoke with 3 different people who had used both Anglers Inn and Pro Bass Adventures and they all now use Pro Bass Adventures.

I have been to both and they both have their ups and downs. Anglers Inn is on the lake, has very nice rooms and exellent food. The only down is the boats and the guides are locals who know their stuff, but dont think like bass pro's and make adjustments during the day. Sometimes I have had to take over to catch better fish. The service at Anglers Inn is world class, but they come in @ 11:00 for lunch and dont go out till 2:30. As a hardcore dude, I want to fish all day and this makes me crazy. Pro Bass Adventures has a nice hotel, good food, great boats with American guides and good electronics and stay at the lake all day. They are sticking big fish when the Anglers Inn guests are taking a nap. The downside is the town is 40 minutes away and the trucks that drive by the hotel will drive you crazy. Don Iovino guides out of this camp, and he really puts his clients on big fish=11-15lbs. So what we all need is for Pro Bass adventures to build a lodge on the lake and they would get all the business. Both are very fun and well worth the $. Rick G.
Anglers Marine has been serving Southern California boaters and fishermen since 1981, with the West's largest bass fishing tackle store and the best boat dealership on the west coast.

Ron Speeds Adventures books a nice trip

Post by Rod Martin »

I've been to Brazil & Mexico with Ron Speed. They have always treated me very nice ,Lodge on the shore a t El Salto, short drive at Comedro. 50 to 70 fish per day most in the 2 to 7 range for both trips to mexico, big fish over 9. Brazil was great they stage off a houseboat, caught fish to 25 lbs, all on top water. am going in Jan with Pro Bass Adventures [by rest of the groups choise], Hope they treat you as well as Ron Speed does since it looks as if they charge about $300 more for the same trip.
