Wacky Senko & rubber bands

Post by R.Mac »

How exactly do ya rig a Senko wacky style using those small rubber bands? Does the hook go between the bait and the rubber, and what is the theory behind this? Thanx, R.

Yea the hook is supposed to go between the rubber ring and the senko. I prefer to skin hook it slightly and just rotate around the senko as it gets torn from the fish or just from casting.

Instead of paying up to $15 for a bulk pack of those rings from a tackleshop, go to your local hardware store as they're similar to a lot of household rubber washers you can find in a faucet. It's a lot cheaper.

Thats right, Place the hook between the O-ring and the Senko.

The two best reasons are:
1. You get ALOT more action out of the Senko.
2. You may get your Senko's to last longer.

Go to your local feed store and buy horse mane bands...they are just small rubber bands and they should cost 3dollars per 500...they come in three colors....

I bought and use O rings from a plumbing supply, but I saw a neat deal in a magazine or somewhere. This guy used aquarium tubing, and just cut it into smaller lengths. It's clear, so the color of the senko comes through, and it looked like it would be plenty strong. And a lot cheaper than O rings.

Feed store? FEED STORE?

Post by Bassinlee »

JT,

Perhaps you're forgetting that many of us don't have the advantage of living in an area that actually HAS a feed store. Around here, the closest thing to a feed store is a Petco. And I'll bet they don't have the kind of good honest feed for cattle or horses you'd find at a real feed store. Betcha the only kind of chow most of em have is for dogs. And probably not a real dog like a lab, shepard, or dobie. Probably just for poodles, pekinese, and other "upholstered rats". Danged ankle biters.
Lessee now. Feed Store. Mebbe you mean a starbucks or somethin. Got a bunch of stuff for sale in there that I wouldn't eat or drink but might feed my cattle. If I had any.
What about those little rubber bands that your kid always scatters around the house that are supposed to be for their braces, or retainer? Those work pretty good.

You can also get the clear plastic tubing from OSH or just about any hardware store. They also have different sizes that you can use to match the different Senko types. something like $.20 per foot which will last you about a year.

Bassinlee;

Ya I am sure you are right...there are no horses in you area..maybe some mules...I'll bet I can spend ten minutes on goggle and find them in your area..they are also available on the net..but that's probably too much work...I was just trying to offer a second choice....there are three horse riding schools in your area, maybe you could call one and ask about the bands...or not...doesn't matter much to me one way or the other....

Is there a specific O ring size?

Take some senkos of different sizes with you when you go. If you don't have an O ring tool, you can just pull the senko through the O ring, if you do it slowly and gently. Otherwise, you'll have a lot of half senkos for dropshotting.

FWIW, found this site this past weekend seems like a real good price:
