Here is how I tie the weedguard on a 4/0 EWG wide gap finesse Gami:
I tie 7 or 8 wraps of black thread around the shank:
Then hold the bottom of the mono and wrap the thread enough times to hold the mono in place:
Then finish wrapping the hook and covering all the mono:
In this shot I have all the mono covered and i use a drop or two of super glue to secure the thread:
The length of the mono is determined on how big of a bow you want in the line when you tuck it under the barb. I use a piece that is 4 1/4" long and bent right in the middle. I know this is not production quality but it works for me, its cheap, easy to do, and helps me with a six pack of cold ones while watching TV
