TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
Does any one use trailers on buzz baits? What kinds and do you put the trailer on a trailer hook or the main hook?

Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
Zoom twin tail in chartreuse on the main hook then a smaller trailer hook. I hook quite a few on the trailer hook.
Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
depends on how fast you want to crank it. A larger bulky bait will give you the ability to crank it slower on the surface. I always use a treble hook trailer in open water or a single hook placed upright if there is some goo in the way.

My choice but I dont fish for $$$ so prolly some better options for the super finiky bass .............good luck out
Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
Maybe you're using the wrong buzzbait. Try one of these... no trailer hook need. It's made by Booyah...

I use a 4 inch Yamamoto Kut Tail worm in black/red with silver specks.
Ditto on the
Soft frog. I prefer the Ribbit version, but the other brands are purdy good as well. Subtle gurgle and very weedless.

The guy that showed me how, where and when to fish Buzz Baits was Les Siebright of Les’s Boat Repair. When I was a kid he was the only fiberglass boat repair guy in Central Ca. he also guided as Mr. Les’s guide service. Les made his own Buzz Baits and every one of them had a skinny *** yellow mister twister curl tail worm as a trailer. Les refused to throw a spinner bait, only fished Buzz Baits no matter if it was a deep water reservoir or the delta. His baits caught fish then and the few I have left still do now. Although I use many different and new style Buzz Baits, I would not consider throwing one without that worm attached to it. I can sometimes find them where Les did, at Delta Bait errrrrr Fisherman’s Warehouse in the bulk bins. Oh one other thing Les did, he would hold his baits in a vice and direct an air nozzle from his compressor at them, spinning the blade for hours at a time. This would wear out and oblong the hole in the aluminum blade and cause the bait to squeal like no other I have ever heard. Les convinced me that on many days the squealing noise made the difference between being bit and not.

Fish Traps, Single tail grubs, Paddle tail worms all have been excellent trailers for me on buzzbaits
Re: Ditto on the
You cant tie them to you car / truck when you drive down the freeway and it will save you a lot of time rather then blowing air with a compressor.
Every one always has the same questions on here "what baits, can I use a trailer, bla bla bla!!"
Here is the deal, you have to experiment and figure out what works for you, what brands, what weights, what trailer. Find out what you have confidence in and go from there.

Yeah just buy everything in the store. Then, if you get bit on something use that. Dumb *** post. I guess you are too cool to help anyone. I guess you are sooooo good you could have beat Ish. I mean it is your home water.
I like to bite the head of of a Lizard and use that! Bobby Barrack and Chris Ball have a video somewhere on this site and it they go into detail about Buzz baits and trailers!

Right on Holmes, just trying to help. Go ahead and drive around your block in Stockton for 2 hrs with a buzz bait tied to your antenna, brilliant gas is only aproaching 3 bucks. While you are at it add a 18 pack of Keyston. The old man had a boat shop with one BAC (big *** compressor) and did many at a time, he took pride in his hand made baits like alot of other people do.gsc686s wrote:You cant tie them to you car / truck when you drive down the freeway and it will save you a lot of time rather then blowing air with a compressor.

Not saying go buy every bait in the store, just need to find one he likes and has confidence in. Too many people get caught up in what is "so and so using" or what’s is the new bait today. You have to stay up on the new baits that are coming out almost daily but you should always have you core confidence baits. The ones that have got you results time and time again. You use a lizard for a trailer, great! The next guy might use something different but it works for him. that’s what I am getting at, find what works for you!!!sker13 wrote:Yeah just buy everything in the store. Also where did the Ish comment come from (left field)???? Sorry did I hurt your feelings by not giving your role model props???
Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
Really I dont think it makes a difference, A buzzbait is purely a reaction bait,If the fish has time to look at it he probably wont eat it. I throw buzzers without a trailer hook when practicing for tournies and with a trailer hook during a tournie but only if the cover is lite to moderate if I am fishing heavy cover, no trailer hook at all because it hinders the ability to cover water. I would say if the fish want it slow then a plastic trailer could help you acheive the slow presentation, or just throw a good quality double buzzer, persuader makes a great double buzzer as do a few other manufacturers. Tight lines, Scott h.
BUZZBAITS IN FEBRUARY!@#$%^&*(
Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
You can catch a ton of fish with one bait. Buy the large Yamamoto buzzbait with a gold blade and a shad skirt. You can throw that bait anywhere and it catches quality fish.

Re: TRAILERS ON BUZZ BAITS ?
Either a Yum or Zoom split tail or a paddle tail bait of some sort. Color and type depends on the conditions I'm throwing it in, Time of day or night and the color of the bait I'm throwing it on. Heavier/bulkier trailers add more body and weight to the bait which changes the way the bait runs on the surface and changes the sound that it makes by pulling the bait down a little bit so you can still get that quiet "plop plop plop plop" at a higher retrieve speed which can sometimes make a difference in getting bit and the fish that are biting it.
