Topwater Frog Bite.......

Post by jack65274 »

How long does frog bite usually last at Delta. I am planning trip up in late October. Any chance it will still be on then?

I like the way you think Bones..Sometimes people just get locked into thinking certain baits at specific times of the year, when in truth the bass don't really care..

What about mid-September? What are the best months for this style of fishing there? Thanks in advance.

It is not so much the time of year. I have caught them from March through October. Like said above what you are looking for is a weather pattern. You can almost always catch a fish or two if you try hard enough, but the good bite happens after a few days of hot calm weather. We have not had much of that this year, but this week is looking good. I may have to give it a shot Wednesday evening if I get the boat back together.

On the Delta planning to frog fish can be frustrating. Just go fishing and if the conditions look right throw the frog. If you want to plan a trip watch the weather closely and try to hit the peak of a hot stretch.

105 degrees and no breeze = FROG FISH!!

i was out about 3 weeks ago and we were able to find some cheese over by bullfrog, we didnt get any blowup throwing the frog due to the cold front. I did much better with a spook.

I gotta say, I have been watching all these "frog" posts that have been up lately. It made me want to go out and throw a frog evertime I read them (I dont throw frogs very much at all) I tied one on this morning and must have caught at least 20 fish with it by 1:00. Looks like I'll be tossing a frog a little more often now..... thanks guys :D
