Can we know why the R2S topic was locked?
Maybe admins thought some of the comments were out of line but I don't see a reason to lock the whole thread.

Some of the comments and accusations crossed the line I think. The point that was originally brought up was valid, then it became personal, and the TD in question is a sponsor of WB, so I feel they did it to put a stop to hearsay attacks against his other tourneys... I wish he would of have defended himself, or at least offered an explanation.
Simply implying that anybody who questioned him was a lazy hacker fisherman on a tablet also probably crossing a line....

I was surprised it made it that long its pretty normal once the heat starts rising in a thread here it gets locked down. Probably wasn't a bad idea......

I don't know if I would say the topic was getting too personal. I didn't see any names mentioned. Some of the responses did single out the TD, but personal? Maybe, I'm not sure.

Honestly, I think it looks worse for the thread to be locked. If there is a defense for the 100% payback, then that case should have been made by whoever was in charge of the payout (don't think that the TD hasn't read the thread). When you just try to brush it off or move on without explaining, it looks shady.

I mean, it's not the job of the westernbass staff to explain the payout, but why not let the topic play out or die off? If guys are upset enough to keep a topic going for nearly 2 weeks, then you know someone is just going to start a new thread like this one.

Having said all that, like deflategate, I'm personally over it.

Hi guys

The decision was made to lock the R2S Payout topic when the thread became personal. It seems that as these post get more traction, they also seem to get more negative. Situations such as this tend to grow and WB tries to keep a positive outlook on these posts.

WB always welcomes angler's opinions that are respectfully expressed.

I think it's pretty simple, if you say 100% payback then payback 100%. I think we all understand there's fees for staff and the use of launch facility, so then just say something like once all fees are paid to those such people then the remainder of the pot goes 100% back to the anglers. Yeah 200$ entry fee for a 2 day tourney is cheap but for the working man on one income it's grocerys or hard earned money saved up. We just want a honest ran tourney, and I agree if we don't agree with that TD then don't fish it, at least that's the lesson I learned. It's just you always hear not so good stuff pertaining to those ran tourneys by that TD versus other trails such as BBT. I mean to show how this TD works he throws the UFC frog tourney the weekend before the best tourney (snag proof) to make some kind of point. To me that's disrespect towards a great tourney and if he wanted a piece of that pie then show a little respect and throw it after the snag proof. All in all we just wanna fish and when we put our hard earned money into a tourney we just want honesty.

I’d like to start off by saying I am not one of the Tournament Director’s (TD) Boys and was unable to fish this event due to a work conflict. I have however competed in his fishing tournaments for the last five years.

I have found that the TD puts on a good show. I take if for what it is: Rookie League. None of us here are fishing the Bassmaster Elite Series or the FLW Tour. Some of you are taking the payouts way too seriously. The payouts are not meant to support your families or propel you into the professional ranks.

I read the flyer put out by the TD for this tournament and knew that the raffled vehicle would be included as part of the tournament payout. Some of you may have missed this but it appeared very clear to me. I have always found the TD to be approachable and if anyone had questions he would have taken their call and been more than happy to explain anything to them.

This TD has been around for quite some time and I have not seen anything that would suggest that he is dishonest. Additionally I do not believe that he is “dirty” or a “snake in the grass” as some of you have suggested.

I for one am glad TD’s like him provide a platform for us to compete. I believe that companies like River2Sea partner with the TD as he has demonstrated his ability to put on a quality tournament experience for us.

Through his hard work he was able to partner with River2Sea and Cabral Jeep/Dodge to run the tournament. I’m sure they knew as well that the raffled vehicle would be included in the tournament payout. I believe this was done purposefully to give every competitor a chance at winning a great prize.

In an effort to make the tournament even better (Not intended as part of the tournament payout) the TD was able to partner with Gone Fishing Marine who sponsored the BBQ. He also did not want to leave the kids out and secured a bicycle to given away (sponsored by River2Sea). The TD and his partners also secured numerous items that were raffled off.

It sounds like a great amount of work and planning went into running this event and I’d like to thank River2Sea, Cabral Jeep/Dodge, Gone Fishing Marine, Coors Light, the TD and everyone who assisted with the event. Seems to me like it was a job well done and very much appreciated by the majority.

That old saying “You can’t please everyone” is true. As I see it for every one person who has issues with the TD he has at least 50 supporters.

Mr. Sena you do make valid points. But the matter is true he does mislead and there is shacky stuff with his "crew" that are also in these tournaments. On the other hand he does put on a good show but that's it a "show". The idea of a rookie league is just that. There are members of his crew that are not rookies and don't qualify under his rules yet have fished year after year. Just some food for thought. I don't want to keep nagging on this subject but us fisherman should be aware of this as you said our hard earned money is what is filling his pockets.

First off I would like to say that this event was professional and ran very well from start to finish. As far as the jeep is concerned i would like to start off by saying it was a great raffle prize(well done and thank you). I was unable to fish the second day I had boat issues. I seen all the stuff that was raffled and it was incredible. But the jeep was a donated prize that means the dealership will write this item off at MSRP, along with the Dodge ram they give away at the Coors light championship great prizes but donated not paid for and for people that don't fish his events that would have not known the raffle prizes where part of the payback. I wish that they ran the buys in a little more like poker tournaments the bigger the event the higher the service fee. Example $200 buy in 20 service fee all in all we are gambling against each others skills. Just like a poker dealer or casino the TD and his staff should be paid accordingly for their services and I think we would all pay. Rakes are a part of gambling get used to it but be up front and nobody can question you. By the way I will continue to fish these events because they are well ran and professional.
