Best Bass Lake in Northern CA

Post by jmconnel44 »

Getting ready to move to Cali from Texas and can't wait to do some swim bait fishing. Can't do much of that here in our dirty water!

Any suggestions on the best lakes to hit up?

Clearlake, Berryessa, Delta, Oroville, and a whole bunch more check out the lake info page under resources over to the right of the page and it list most major lakes in Cali. If your coming to Nor Cal these are some of the best bodies of water though.

Where do you plan to live? "Northern CA" covers quite an area.

Depends on what type of bass your fishing for. There are incredible smallmouth and spotted bass fisheries also.

No offense but can't believe someone is leaving Texas to come to CA. The politics in this state beyond suck. If anything I would love to leave here for Texas. There is some great fishing here though. Good luck and God Bless.

Could be Military. Could have orders to move to CA. I was in Florida when I got orders to CA. Love both states...

I agree with all of these, but don't forget the Motherlode Lakes - Don Pedro, McClure, Camanche, Amador, Melones, Pardee, and even Hogan.
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

Wait till you find how tough it can be  Teasing. But just pick any lake. A big plus is being trout fed but not needed. Big bass are in them all. I have DD's from 5 lakes as of now. Teens from 3 lakes, 47 to 53 lb limits from 4 lakes. 'WHERE" is not an issue. Fish 10+ are all over. Just gota target them.
Good Luck, Have fun.
Last year I got a 14.9, this year starting off with a 12.9 and 8.8 Spot (on video) They get them ALL OVER! Nor Cal is a big area with LOTS of lakes and rivers so you will have plenty to explore. And I don't even really fish Clearlake, Berryessa, Delta, Oroville, two of those I have never fished. So you see they are in ALL lakes. GET EM!
To me there isn't a best. But they all come from Pedro if you ask me

I sure wish I was fishin at any lake........

The average weight of fish caught in this tournament was an astounding 5.21 lbs. No other lake or body of water in the US even comes close to this average for a 40 boat tournament.

I'm just saying if you pay for a guide trip on Matt's boat...bassinguide.com... he will help solve your can't-catch problem on Clear Lake.
You're welcome
