POWELL MAX PUNCH ROD

Post by mziemer »

i have a tackle warehouse exclusive powell max punch rod with a new abu garcia revo sx spolled with 80lb power pro braid. would this work for an umbrella rig also? im afraid its not heavy enough for the a-rig. am i going to get a lot of back lashes because of 80lb braid?

That will work fine. The rig really is not all that heavy(depending on what you put on it). I prefer the okuma 7'11" heavy because of the longer handle, but a flipping stick will still get the job done.

I have the punch rod paired up wiht a Shimano Curado 300 and love the combo. Butt of the rod is a tad short for casting but still works great!
