POWELL MAX PUNCH ROD
POWELL MAX PUNCH ROD
i have a tackle warehouse exclusive powell max punch rod with a new abu garcia revo sx spolled with 80lb power pro braid. would this work for an umbrella rig also? im afraid its not heavy enough for the a-rig. am i going to get a lot of back lashes because of 80lb braid?

you'll be good with that set up.
Re: POWELL MAX PUNCH ROD
sounds like it should be ok. i use a phenix punch rod to throw my a-rig.

That will work fine. The rig really is not all that heavy(depending on what you put on it). I prefer the okuma 7'11" heavy because of the longer handle, but a flipping stick will still get the job done.

That's what I use for my A-Rig w/65lb. and it handles it just fine.bayscotter wrote:Same question about the a- rig but with a dobyns savy 766 flip?
Re: POWELL MAX PUNCH ROD
I have the punch rod paired up wiht a Shimano Curado 300 and love the combo. Butt of the rod is a tad short for casting but still works great!
