!!!!!!!!!!!!Just a heads up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently had a power pole pump motor fail (2 YEARS OLD) and sent it to JL Marine for replacement under warranty. When they received my pump they opened the motor and found it had water inside. After talking to them, I was surprised to find that the pump is not water tight and was told that they have several motors fail because of condensation getting inside. I have a Skeeter I Class with the pumps installed in the bilge area, I don't purposely put water in that area, but it does get wet from several different sources. The Owners Manual says "Install the HPU in a suitable, dry location that is not prone to constant drenching or submersion"!!!!! I complied with that instruction!!!
The Tech at JL Marine said to spray the pump(s) with waterproofing and try to keep the bilge area aired out after use to help eliminate condensation.
The end result was that they honored the warranty but how many times will they do that. The pumps cost $350 for a USED pump!!!

Thats just one of reasons some of the people are changing to the new Minn Kota Talon.
There less weight and don't get as messy as the Power Pole. I have installed a couple of them and it's pretty easy.
