Riddle me this bass fishermen...

Post by Rich461 »

I have posted this question on several bass forums and have had very few answer this question correctly.

You have launched your boat, got all your stuff ready, motored to your favorite spot. You kill the engine, drop the trolling
motor, get ready to make that first cast. Before you make that first cast, what is the most important thing you do before
that?
Right or wrong...respond to this okay?

My answer will come later on here.

Cast to a none productive area. So you don't catch a fish on the first cast.

Check my drag so I don't lose a fish on the first cast which to me is not bad luck but a good sign.

It's an incomplete question Rich... Or should I say incomplete set up for the question. You are expecting way to many assumptions. Most guys have already made sure they have their fishing license before they leave the house (I keep mine in my wallet and you can't drive a boat without a valid drivers license (or drive to the lake), so I always have both). If you are like me, you check your drag and reel settings when you spool up and tie on a lure. If you are like me, you already have water in the livewell and the net is ready to go, etc. etc. As far as I'm concerned, everyone answered it correctly except for G-Man... (Cus he's one of those tools that wears mid-calf white socks with baggy shorts. One would have to smoke blunts to think that looks cool... LLOL )

1st thing I do is reach into my pocket. Grab all the loose change I have. And toss it around the boat into the water. Paying the fish Gods works!!

There's a bunch of stuff people might do but right before I made my first cast I'd make sure to push down the clutch bar or flip over my bail before making my first cast! lol

The first thing I do is pray that my wild 2 year old doesn't burn down the house while I am gone and keep me from going fishing the next time.

Check the hooks to make sure they are sharp

Test the knot

Check your drag

Look behind you

Wait a few minutes for the area to settle down

Think about your first cast and where you want it to go

Cast to the outskirts to not hook one on the first cast

After all this I may never make my first cast.
