At night would be a good choice. I also remember one year in July when the bass were schooling on bait off shore. I used a Zara Spook off of mainlake points, sometimes over 30-40 feet of water and had a ball. I was still catching them between noon and 1 p.m. The fish were busting, but it did not do any good to chase them, by the time you got to where they were, they were gone, or spooked. The better shoice was to pick likely areas and fish them patiently.

Also there is a legendary summer night bite there, try 10 inch black power worms and big jigs.

Hope that helps

Years ago when amador was a "trout lake" it was killer for bass I had several chances to fish that place in it's prime and got more doudle digits there than I have aywhere else. Now it sucks IMO I have fished it recently and been very disappointed. But guido craws used to kill em there.

I've had good luck there splitshotting 4 or 6 inch Magic worms in greens or browns with red flakes...Usually it's pretty slow during the hottest parts of the day but the morning and evenings can be excellent. I still havent done a night trip up there, but I keep telling myself I'm going to.

Amador

I think it was 24 or 25 bucks last time I took my son and wife there last summer.

Take a frog along for any trash pockets or scum lines, even in little coves or right on the edge of the shore line in a foot of water.

And like Pat said, keep top water on the deck at all times. If you see bait busting the surface fire a pop-R in the middle. If all else fails drag a rooster tail around and catch trout.

Have fun and be safe.
