Post by Rod Martin »

In your on home and busness. When you hit a downturn in sales
or home income, HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND TO PULL YOURSELF OUT OF IT.?

If you dont why do you feel the gov. should?

The old saying goes something like "you got to spend money to make money"

at home - cut expenses
Business - increase expenses for marketing and sales, cut everything else that is non-essential.

So Dan, are you saying you increased your marketing expenses above your 2007/2008 budget?
Along with decreasing the number of employees?

Swank , not sure about apples and oranges BUT

in my home if income goes down, I cut spending, sell items if need be and avoid taking on new debt.
in busness, if demand is shrinking then I cut back on expenses, lay off workers and get rid of excess inventory. and yes market to others customers and try to take a larger share of the market.
and in both home and busness if I had to spend it would be for basics only.

Why should we allow our gov. be any differnt.

That plan is one that forecasts a customer base that may be reached and persuaded to purchase your services.
The expectation is an investment in the growth of new wealth financed by a cut in consumption at home. It's a risk but as an entrepreneur you have assessed the risk to be acceptable and likely to get returns.

If your "service" was nothing but moving piles of dirt back and forth, without being solicited, and your 'customers" were actually victims robbed of their wealth by you with no choice what you would really be engaged in is CONSUMPTION or DESTRUCTION of wealth. That of you and your "customers". Even if you paid people to move the dirt back and forth unless you can eat or otherwise use dirt or benefit from the process of moving it no new wealth is created. 100% wealth destruction is the yield from such enterprises. Everyone getting gradually poorer over time.
The only winners, at the expense of everyone else, are you and those either lucky enough, or more likely, unprincipled enough to be your employees.
The great non sequitur committed by defenders of the State, including classical Aristotelian and Thomist philosophers, is to leap from the necessity of society to the necessity of the State.

When that happened to me, I had to wait until Desert Storm ended then things got better. The day we invaded Iraq, my business dropped 90% When we got out it returned to normal. Then I doubled my prices and my business doubled. People in CA don't think your good if you don't charge the most.

At this point it's obvious the stimulus plans have failed and failed miserably. To think otherwise is pure stupidity.

In addition, they were weighed and measured at the polling places across the land today and given a grade of "F".

What a complete repudiation for this hapless administration.

GO USA.

:D

I just wish the incompetent campaigned a bit more for Boxer and Reid - like he did for Russ in Wisconsin

I also love how the incompetent's old senate seat in Illinois was taken by an R today.

GO USA.

I never understood why Bush started that idea!
