To fish or not to fish ?

Post by K Luby »

To fish the U.S. Open or not to fish the U.S. Open ?
Let's see three days off work = 1000,gas for pre fish and open =500, Open 1350, food and drinks 100, ok forget the food - 25, compulsive tackle shoping = 200, line = 150, sun screen 20, big *** hat 20, side bet with Jeff Klicka = 100, truck gas = 150, oil 50 and misc = 200 ( misc can be < or > depending on if the Nitro can make it to T-bar.
I will get to fish for five days, meet some cool AAA ( net lesson's included ), see all my fishing hero's ( Brent Becker ) but not Mike Folkestad I've seen enough of him at the Pro-Am's or maybe he can loan me some of my money back.
Ok all said the con's out way the pro's but thank god we all have this sickness called fishing. Hell I'm in.

K Luby,

Just saw your post and wanted to thank you personally for making the right choice as an angler. We here at WON are proud of our events and want to thank you and every angler who has supported us in the past as well as now. Winning the US OPEN, as "gixxer" mentioned is "Priceless".

All kidding aside, we all have seen what winning the US OPEN can do to an anglers career, and with that said, it's the experience of fishing and competing in one of the most, if not the most grueling, challenging, and testing tournaments in the Nation, that makes this event so special. I would like to personally invite all of you who have not jumped off the fence to sign up and pin yourself against the best of the best. Be a part of history and leave your mark to be admired by all for years to come. Our entries are stacking up daily, and the turnout has been great.

Besides the fact that at Friday nights "Tribute to the Legends" dinner held at the Boulder Station Casino, gives everyone in attendance the opportunity to meet and greet with 5 of the most influential people in our beloved Bass Fishing industry. WON Bass is honoring Ray Scott, Johnny Morris, Forest L. Wood, Cotton Cordell, and Darrell Lowrance for their life long support in an industry we all are lucky to be a part of. Jimmy Houston is the Master of Ceremonies, and we all look forward to a great night of fun and laughs.

We at WON, look forward to seeing and meeting you all at this years US OPEN, which is sure to be an event to remember.

"It's Priceless"

3 days missing work= 1,000 YOU ARE WAY OVER PAID. It's not like your an electrician. #@*~ plumbers, always trying to get out of the ditches they dig themselves into. I am glad to see they extended the entry deadline...I am still on the fence. Extreme heat fishing for sure. If I don't fish the event I wish you the best Kevin.

Thats a great paragraph of humor. Good on you to sign up. I already did as an AAA, and to all the AAA's on the fence, you do not know what you would be missing. I consider myself a good bass fisherman, but after I entered last year and saw how the pro's went about their business, I learned so much. After last year, I really perfected the netting side of tourneys. All AAA's have to do is show up with their tackle, be Johnny on the spot with the net, and keep your eyes and ears open for advice and wisdom from your pro's. Ensure you take care of the Pro's with a monetary gift at the end of each day. Fair is fair. Please keep in mind the wear and tear of their boat, engine and the truck that got it there for your enjoyment. I have had the honor of fishing a lot of fine locations, but I truly have to say that the OPEN is the most challanging regarding the heat, winds and the sore muscle pain you will endure in non stop casting for three days. Be a man or a mouse if you dare. HAHAHA

Well it's official I will not be fishing the Open so I guess I'll be rooting for you Kevin. I have to go to Alaska fishing for salmon and halibut. We leave the last day of the Open. Darn it!!!

Trip cost divided by filets brought back. $29 per lb. . . I don't think so. But I "could" throw you a slab or two
