Yup, jut this last week, I watched a pair molest a mallard hen's row of ducklings off the dock. What started out as 12 before it reached the dock and patio boat, ended up as 5 by the time that squakin, flappin, screamin hen got em all onto the bank. A few weeks back while demonstrating some tricks with an MS Slammer for my clients, we watched a Red Wing'd black bird sacrifice itself to a teener, a foot before my wake bait hit the strike zone. Just as I said, "Watch this boil....", out of no where a black bird lands on an overhanging tulle right on the point of this clump and all hell broke loose. Few years back, we sat and watched a couple of big bass destroy a bunch of baby swallows as they jumped out of their nests on the end of the SS Minnow right there at the entrance to Big Break Marina. If that baby sparrow didn't take off and fly away, it ended up in a bass' belly!
These River bass, eat birds all the time in the spring and early summer!
