amended rule for the 2010 Top Stick Joe's season

I am very sorry to have to make a rules change during the season. Because of things that have happened I felt that it needed to be done.
here it is
A life vest must be used by all competitors whenever the outboard engine is engaged. Coast Guard compliance for said life vests is mandatory. Life jackets MUST be worn at all times the outboard combustion engine is operating, this includes picking up and dropping off your co-angler, idling in the marina waiting for your tow vehicle, driving your boat on the trailer until it is no longer floating(this allows you to hook up the bow.) Co Anglers that do not have an approved PFD on when they are picked up at the dock, must dawn said PFD as soon as he/she sets foot on the boat if the combustion motor is running.

This is now written within our rules.

There are always those who will just try and stir the pot, because they either don't think before they speak/type, or because they really don't understand all that's involved with running a tournament.

The key word is "combustion". Whether your boat sucks or spits, you have to wear a jacket...

So, apparently the vest needs to be hanging on the front pedestal as once "a foot" is on the boat----I read this to not allow a second foot so unless the non-boater has an approx 12'- - 14' stride he will not be able to walk back to the seat where the life vest is usually awaiting.

W/ all the # of RIDICULOUS or Derogatory comments I've seen--- I am not surprised this particular TD came up w/ this written rule. What I do find surprising is that that organization can continue to attract enough $$paying anglers to have more than a Derby in a birdbath. From what I hear enough anglers steer away from that enterprise because of the TD that you would think finally someone could read the writing on the wall.....
but then again, I was wrong once before!
