SHIMANO CRUCIALS AND CUMARAS

Post by spottedbass »

hey I was wondering if anyone else had issues with crucials or cumaras breaking? i recently broke a crucial, and then my first hookset with a two week old 7'2 cumara a couple days ago....it snapped in half... on a 3lber....... Anyone else breaking these or do I just have bad luck?
thanks nate

i dont own a cumara but my buddy striper fishes with a cumara and has landed 20lbers fine. but i do own 2 crucials, 6'8" medium and 7'2'' MH, i've had no problem with them, i actually think they are very stout rods.
OK last cast, I promise.

I snapped two Crucials... one casting and the other was the crucial drop shot rod. However, it is Shimano, so just take it back. good warranty

I got a few Shimanos and havent broke one yet. Shimano has an awesome warranty, just take it back.

If the rods broke on the first trip out then I would suspect they were damaged prior to you receiving them. Take them back to the dealer where they were purchased for warranty replacement.

They most likely were damaged from the start. I have a few Shimano rods and have never broken one and I'm not that nice to my gear either.

I broke another brands rods with an O/C warranty till I realized that I didnt need to lock down the drag and try to poke the angels in the eye with a hookset with 65lb braid. The only thing left to give is the rod.
Not to mention braid that isnt round like PowerPro tends to wrap your guides and that will snap your rod like a twig.

I havent broke a cumara yet and my crucial is a crazy good frog rod. I have dragged 7lbers with a 20 pounds of grass in its mouth to the boat.

Try backing the drag off a bit.
