Government is getting efficient???

Paid my taxes on 4/15/09 and the check cleared my bank on 4/20/09. I can't get the f...ing Post Office to deliver a first class letter within California in less than 3 days, but the processing center got my taxes. From 4:45 p.m. on 4/15 the Post Office in Modesto got my taxes and check to Fresno...and the IRS processed my check through their bank, and my bank processed the check all with in two business days??? Okay lets assume they worked Saturday and Sunday...five business days???(btw, my bank is closed on the weekends, would it have cleared earlier otherwise?).

Holy Crap! Has anyone on here received a check from the IRS in any less than 30 days of sending your taxes in via snail mail? Highly unlikely. Quick to take it, slow to do anything else.

I would not confuse the word efficient with greed – but I understand what you mean.

I was also suprised how fast they cashed my check. I dont think they could have had the money faster if they walked down to my local branch and cashed it.
