Rest In Peace, My Friend

Post by Marc »

It is with a heavy heart that I learned today that my close friend Colonel (Retired) David Shank unexpectedly and suddenly passed away this morning from either an anuerism, heart attack or massive stroke.

Dave seemed in perfect health. Besides being a retired California Army National Guard Colonel, he was also a retired physical ed teacher in Whittier area.

Dave bought the Triton I won in Sept. on the Columbia, and the boat hasn't even shipped yet from the factory. His first bass boat, and he never even got to see it. We were to drive his boat to El Salto next month and fish there for a week.

Enjoy life while you can; you never know when it will end.

Rest in peace my dear friend, I miss you already.

Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend and fellow fisherman.
Our prayers are with his family and friends.

It really drives the message home. Tell your family you love them all the time and try to get out with them and friends as much as possible. You just never know.

Marc,

I am sorry to hear the passing away of your friend, Ret Colonel David Shank. I shall say a prayer for the Col. and his family.

You are on point with. "Enjoy life when you can; you never know when it will end." So very true.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Marc. While he never got to see the new Triton, he did get to enjoy the fun and excitement of ordering it. Heck, that's half the fun! Your advice about enjoying life is right on the mark. I hope Dave's family can take some solace in knowing he was excited about his upcoming trip and new boat. Sounds like he was living life to the fullest. In fact, he leaves behind the legacy of being a good role model for everyone else.

Condolances,

Dean Sault

Thank you for the prayers for my friend and his family. The boat that is soon to be shipped here is a Triton TR196 with a 200 Merc Optimax, and he added the "edge" package. I think another friend may buy the boat from his widow for what Dave had in the boat, but if he doesn't buy it then I will help her to sell the boat. It is about the only way I know to help them still.
