I've noticed while fishing that my fish always get hurt. Sometimes the fish struggles too much and gets very badly injured.
Environmental fishing is still a good idea with circle hooks.
What hooks can I use to fish with to increase fish survival?
Re: What hooks can I use to fish with to increase fish survival?
The way I understand, delayed mortality in C&R bass comes from multiple sources:
Keeping the fish out of the water too long. (Rule of thumb is "only as long as you can hold your own breath".)
Breaking the fish's jaw. (Boat-flipping, bad holding & handling.)
Crushing internal organs. (Bad handling.)
Destroying too much slime coat. (boat carpet, dry ground, hands.)
Livewells. (Ammonia build-up from stressed bass.)
Gut-hooking and bleeding gills. (Obviously.)
Hooks are one part of the equation.

When you put fish in your livewell, run them continuously, so fresh water is constantly flowing through the livewell.

Barbless hooks but a lot of fish come off the hook.
