WWN Pre season #2 will lightning strike twice?

Post by Fast Eddie »

So with hurricane velocity winds the second preseason WWN tournament begins. Meeting Josh after stopping at "The Bass Hole" for more giant fish baits. Josh and I start discussing our starting spot, and yep, were gonna go to the big fish spot. Launch and the river is not nearly as rough as last week.(probably because the tide coming with the wind) First spot, Josh eases the boat into the marina. Everything looks A OK. Josh catches a 1lbr and things are getting exciting. Tension is building and Josh has to re tie so I take the front. Josh has switched from Minn Kota to Garmin and I'm having a difficult time adjusting, when thump.........there she is...but the spit out thump happens just as quick and its over. Nothing, but we'll be back later. Next spot the ol D/S with a "Pops" worm boats us a 1 1/2. Then its like zip zero nada for the rest of the tournament. But.........we go back to the "spot" and as were easing our way down I hear a commotion behind us. About a 2 ton sea lion. GREAT. Dump our fish and head in. Check in time is 8:25, and the clock turns just as we enter Ladds. (apparently there were a few late boats last night)
It took 18.24 to win and 13.02 to cash a check. 7.84 BF.

Thanks to all who complimented my last post. The reason no cameras, is two fold. First, I have a face for radio. Second, We're in Josh's boat. But really, to tell the story in words over video can be much more entertaining. There are thoughts, expressions, etc that just don't come across in video. Maybe some day when my editing skills get on par with the "Bearded One". (wait for his next video to see what the engine problem was  I'm afraid my luck might be rubbing off on him  )

\Now for 10# line. I have caught more fish over 5lbs - 12lbs using seaguar floro. It comes from the idea, that when you hook a big fish what does it do? It's been my experience that they come to the top, try to shake it off, and then beeline to deep water. There is usually nothing in the deep water so they can do what they do without compromise until they tire. If I were to put a ratio to it, I'd say 9 out of 10 times I land the fish. I believe its the combination of an outstanding drag system in the daiwa 1500 and the G Loomis PR 842S (IM6) (with a broken tip which drives everyone crazy). So that's why I use 10lb Seaguar or P line.

PSS Joe did an outstanding job puting new guides on my lamiglass rod last year. Reach him thru the Bass Hole.

PSSS Can anyone tell me what the heck they're doing at railroad slough near Cruiser Haven? Driving pilings in the north side of the draw bridge.
Thanks
