THIS IS WHY FOLSOM SHOULD BE......
considered the best Spotted Bass lake in Northern California.
<img src="/shared/photos/photos/resized/3610_resized.jpg">
Craig Adams caught this 6.36 lb. monster Spot on a swimbait during the FOLSOM BASS LEAGUE event yesterday. All of the bigger fish in all of the bags I weighed yesterday were Spots which shows just how awesome this lake is.

Re: THIS IS WHY FOLSOM SHOULD BE......
hey how about brett govea's two spots over 7 pounds at the wonbass pro/am?????????? and robert lee's 6 and ricky's big one??? just giving you a hard time dude!! sorry i couldnt make it...im up here at shasta for the stren. see ya bro
I respectfully disagree
While your event had a great day and lots of good fish.....
Last february we had 10 fish over 5 pounds in one event at shasta, with the winner, Arnold Fancelli and Bill Townsend weighing in over 23 pounds for 5 fish.....
Thats why I consider shasta the number 1 spotted bass lake in the west. I sure would consider Folsom a good choice for second if it keeps up like its going

Re: I respectfully disagree
Hey Justin at least you caught a fish at shasta. Folsom is very tough.
Re: I respectfully disagree/ Why?
Congratulations are in order here. A father and daughter team that are pulling in some great fish here, when a lot of us are struggling, except for those certain poeple that are always on top, and they ain't talking. Maybe just a little to kind rub salt in the wound, but that's a different story for a different thread.
Last year was a different year as all those years previous. We should all be grateful that we have different systems and circuits we get to fish all pretty close to each other. They are all great.
See you out there and I'll continue to do my part holding up the bottom

Folsom is a lil jewel!
And you guys are doing a great job up there for the regional folks at Folsom. It's a great fishery for the locals who have the time to spend on the lake. For the distant traveler, let's be honest here, Folsom can be one tough pond! Hell, it's one tough pond for the locals a lot of the time! LOL
It's still not in the class of Shasta, not even close Scott. When Folsom starts kicking out 8-9 pound spots every year, when folks can travel to Folsom and spend a week catching 100+ fish a day, every day, maybe then it might git some consideration.
You oughta take yer guys to Collins for an event. Course, Larry won't like it!
Then Come down to McClure fer a reality check. Stop off at New Melones on the way home. Then you guys will git a better look see of where Folsom sits on the ladder here in Northern California.

Re: THIS IS WHY FOLSOM SHOULD BE......
I love Scott's dedication and promotion of Folsom. He is right, it truly is a great spotted bass fishery that has many really big spots in it. When it is on we usually catch 40-50 spots a day over 2 lbs with quite a few largmouth and smallies also. There are also a bunch of 4-5lb spots. My best is a 6.6. Just in tournaments the last 4 weeks There have been over 20 spots weighing over 4 lbs with the big 6 lber caught this weekend. And the bite is fairly tough right now. Wait till it really gets going.
Granted I have caught more spots from 3-6 lbs on Folsom than any other lake but it is also in my back yard and I fish it all the time. You really have to stay connected with the bite.
That being said I think that Shasta is the best spotted bass lake in NorCal. I wish it wasn't such a long drive or I would fish it alot more. There are more big spots up there than anywhere I have seen. The tournament numbers don't lie. When Shasta is on it kicks out monster spots.
We are lucky to have a good lake like Folsom close to Sac and centrally located and even luckier to have a guy like Scott running a really good curcuit for us. Scott does a great job with the tournaments and we are lucky to have him. (Even if he is a Folsom homer-ha!)

Re: THIS IS WHY FOLSOM SHOULD BE......
Scotty, I love you and your events. (I missed the last two because of a flu-bug that would NEVER go away!)
Anyway, here you have the great Folsom Debate. I whole-heartedly agree that you can catch bigger spots on average in Folsom than any other spot like I've fished.
But look at the other side ... that father/daughter team that caught that nice 6+ Spot only weighed in ONE FISH!!!
1/2 of the teams in the event didn't even weight 5! When two guys can fish for 8.5 hours and not weight 5, that is pretty poor.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not slammin Folsom ... I LOVE that challenge. I love that if you are good enough to catch 5, you are are normally in the top 1/2. But the reality is that Folsom will never be considered the "Best" spot lake in Cal b/c too many of the masses that don't fish it regularly have a very, very tough time of getting bit.
Like Damon said ... those 40+ days are possible ... but in my experience they are also fairly limited to the Spring. In the Summer, Fall and Winter, this lake can be a BEAR ... (unless there is a storm).
I think what can be safely said about Folsom is:
(1) On average, we get a better grade of Spots.
(2) It is an amazing "Storm" lake.
(3) It separtes then men from the boys. If you come here and are not that sure what you are doing ... be prepared to BLANK! I been there MANY times!!!
(4) For those who love a very difficult challenge, there is no better lake.

Everybody should go fish an fish Folsom pond and leave Lake Oroville alone. As there are NO good fish in Oroville, they are all runts

And this was small compared to the one that tried to chase a 6" coho into my boat
Then there is always this pair:

The one on the left was over 23". My scale fried so I couldn't weight it
The on the right was just a pesky 18"er
