TEXAS VS WACKY
TEXAS VS WACKY SENKOS THIS TIME OF YEAR ON THE DELTA?
Re: TEXAS VS WACKY
I HAVE to ask...am I the ONLY one to never wacky worm a senko??? I honestly do not believe I have ever done it! So yeah I am kinda curious how people answer this question. I realize it depends on the water your fishing-cover vs open water but tell me,tell me!

I was getting fine on a texas rigged senko, I have not wacky rigged at The Delta. The fish are active right now and eating senkos.

Unweighted Texas-rigged Senkos catch fish year round, but if you want to t-rig them w/ a weight dont use a heavy sinker, it totally kills the action. Alton Jones won the Clear Lake BASS a few years ago texas rigging a Tiki Stick (senko basically) on a very, very light bullet sinker, I want to say 1/16oz but I'm not sure....he was fishing alot of deeper tullies down to 8'. Something like that would be fine because the Senko will still retain a pretty decent action. Wacky Rigged works very well all year!! The bait looks great rigged like that, but you just cant fish it in real thick stuff. I've caught alot of good Bass in many places in the dead of winter on them. The rigging method really has nothing to do w/ seasons, its more about what thickness of cover your fishing.

I usually switch to wacky rigging if I'm getting a lot of short bites or missing a lot of fish. That exposed hook gets a lot more fish. You can also wacky rig with a small nail in the tail to make it sink wacky style and sit on the bottom texas style. Oooooooopsss.. Did I say too much....dang.

All depends on when and where. I almost always wacky rig my 4" and 5" senko's if I'm fishing deep water lakes such as folsom, oroville and shasta. A light weight on one end adds alot more action and a more vertical head first drop. On the delta, I usually always wacky rig 6"senko's on W.W. hook - but as it heats up and the weeds begin to grow the wacky rig is a little tougher to fish. 6" and 7" senko's texas-rigged (no weight) with the hook run-into the bait a little further out performs the wacky rig when fishing hyacin, weedlines and lower water. One more tip try using the rubber o-rings on your wacky rigs as well - they save a ton of money lost to one fish baits. And with 6" and 7" at $1 a piece that adds up.
And for Clear Lake - All of the above!!
