One of my buddies has been fishing Snodgrass Slough and catching a lot of bass using Senkos and spinnerbaits. Biggest ones have been around 5 pounds.

My brother and I went out last Saturday and had good luck, for numbers but nothing over 4.5#, tossing chartreuse buzzbaits, white spinnerbaits and watermelon senkos. All three worked from safe light until 2 PM when we got off the water. Good Luck and have a fun trip.

Try some sinkos and hogs. If the bite is slow, try a suspending Mclure in baby basturd color with a McCrap trailer. Good Luck! Let me know. DS

Back from my annual week long trip to the Delta....great time as always....fishing (and catching) was off the chart...spent the majority of my time in upper Beaver Slough (close to our house boat anchorage) began last wednesday morning about 7 quickly established a pattern that lasted the entire time.....pitchin' a shell cracker into isolated spots, twitchin' it BAM.... one of my favorite go-to-baits a plastic quad blade buzz bait with a black/ red skirt also accounted for a good many fish and lastly...the big producer a yellow/black tweety schemed frog, it accounted for the big fish 8lber and several in the 3-5 lb. range...the trip basically was a top water reaction bite had 74 legal (C/R) bass in the boat...fished calm water ,wind driven water, didn't seem to matter....in the wind the buzzer was lethal...not any good pic's, I fish by myself as the others are not bass fisherman...they enjoy their time talking, reading and enjoying the Delta ambiance. Get out there the bite is still alot of fun, enjoy this great resource. Hey Norththird...tried a couple McLure jerkbaits as well as twitchers not a lot of interest....but WE know McLure Twitch is a Delta Killer. Surfk9

Glad to see that you had a great time. Did you go beyond the bridge in the back of Beaver Slough? Years ago, within 6 casts, I caught two bass, one tipped the scales at 7.2 pounds and the second one weighed 6.1 pounds on a 1/2 oz Persuader spinnerbait.

My favorite slough in that area is Sycamore Slough. Did you try Sycamore Slough? If not, next time, try it. I caught my personal all time best for striped bass and salmon (both 27+ pounds) in that slough using a 3/4 oz chrome with blue back Rat L Trap.

Burke, I've smashed nice salmon in that slough too! Same bait...what a blast.

If any of you may curious as to what a "McLure Twitch" is...I've been making wooden lures for about seven years...my fishing buddy, David, named the original "Twitch" due to the action I impart to the lure as it floats...basically twitching it (similar to a jerk on suspended jerk bait) ...the original twitch is the orange colored one...this spring i made the Delta sunfish using it in a similar fashion...both have been great producers. These two measure about 4 inches long X 1 3/4 inches tall...they both dive about 3-5 feet. be sure to click to enlarge...surfk9Image Image
