ya know, the coverage just sucks big time. I mean the announcers are good, but jeepers, 95% of the time on them and some stupid story? Come on, show us guys fishing! We don't care if they are getting bit that much, pan the cameras around to the guys who are getting bit, but dang, I am so sick of watching the announcers talking about whatever!

Amen Brother Doug!!!

They don't know how to cover it cuz' their idea of fishing requires a lounge chair and beverage...the fish'n is secondary.

Congrats to Alton Jones but yet another year goes by and Aaron Martens seems not be getting the patterns until the final day. Was to late lately to get into the top five.....Good luck Aaron maybe next year's Classic will finally be yours! :?

So let me get this straight..You think they should be able to film all 50 guys cuz you never know who is going to catch them, every day and the top 25 on the final day for 8 hours each day. That is 1000 hours of film. Then you want them to edit it all and have it along with 3 to 4 hours of the weigh-in playing 4 hours after the weigh-in is over on a national network that brings fishing to millions of viewers..many that don't fish or are casual anglers.

So how many of your want to volunteer to edit 400 hours of tape in 4 hours to come up with 66 minutes of a fishing show, now make it interesting, create drama and make sure you cover the hero's, don't forget the corporate sponsors guys, have to have some coverage of the AOY and past Champions and make sure you get those fuzzy feel good clips of the surrounding area, town, lake and people cuz they are spending $500,000 to get the Classic to their town.

Now that is 66 minutes IF we have a hour and half show if we only have an hour you will only need to edit all that in 44 minutes so it should be much easier.

I think ESPN does a great job with the classic and if you want to see the fish catches set your TIVO cuz they always show a more in depth fishing show on the Classic in the weeks after the event. Now you guys probably won't want to watch that one cuz you already know who won....

Our sport doesn't perform on a 300 foot field, a circle track or in an auditorium...some of these guys were running 30 miles up river several times per day.

sit back and watch and enjoy guys....It's the Classic!!!!!

I stand corrected, with just the leaders on tap they showed a lot of fishing. Nice lake, fish caught from shallow to deep. Not a bad check for Mr Jones.

Did anybody see the spot Byron and Kennedy did on the swimbait?

What was that swimbait that would stop and turn around completely 180 degrees at a twitch of the rod tip?

That was awesome. Does somebody know what bait that was?

Thanks; Big Ed!

Not too sure on the bait, but it's mostly in how you "pop" the end of your slack......I can get a jerkbait (several different ones) to do that off and on throughout a cast. You really have to be dialed on the feel of your rod, paired with the right line diameter also. Jerkbait fish can be caught all year round with the change in cadence and other little tricks  but yes that was pretty cool! can you imagine what that big follower was thinking when that "Trout" spun around to defend itself!   :o

The only swimbait that I've seen that can stop and/or turn a 180 or even 360 is a Triple Trout.

After looking at the recording a couple of times, my best guess is that the swimbait Byron is using in the pool with Steve Kennedy is a River2Sea Kong bait. Like what was previously mentioned there are a number of "Jointed" baits out there that can be made to do a 180 or 360 depending on technique applied. The Tripple trout has the biggest rep for it though...in my opinion.
