Spinning rod/reel Setup

Post by NV_DuckSlapper »

I've been looking around for a nice spinning setup lately mainly for drop-shots, unweighted senkos, tubes, etc. I have plenty of spinning stuff I'm just thinking it is time to invest in something a little nicer. I don't really want to spend more than $200, but i may be willing to go slightly over. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to get?
Thanks.

Check out the Dobyns champion series 702 SF.
You won`t be disappointed and you will love the balance and sensitivity.
The 701 is great too but is mostly a dropshot rod and may be a little soft for other stuff.
The savvy series is good too.

Given you're budgetary constraint,it would be hard to beat a Pluegher President/Shimano Compre combo. If you could find a sale a Shimano Symetre/Shimano Crucial would run you approx. $200.I have variations of both and am very pleased .The classified section on this forum is also a great source for top quality gear at good prices,Good luck!Regards,Mike

I have a Powel Tackle Warehouse Wacky Senko rod 6'10" 3 power medium, ex-fast 1/8-3/8oz. 6-12lb test with a matching colored Abu Garcia Orra S30 spinning outfit, both used sparingly. I will sell both for $120 if interested (916) 266-1592.

Check the sale pages on these sponsor sites and you will find a great deal. Check past Post on this subject matter as there is great info out there. Thats half the fun. :D .
I would get the better reel myself and skimp more on the rod if u have to. IMHO
Remember you get what you pay for, poor quality lingers long after a good price if forgotten.

Good luck,
Kap

I have two Powell 702s exellent rods and versitile as well, paired mine with Shimano Symetre 2500 fl reels. Either way go with the 7' 2 power rods.
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!

$200 buck combo..? With your budget, two words, DAIWA LEXA! $99 dollar Rod, LEXA 7'2" Med Lt. $120 dollar Reel, LEXA2000 or 2500SH. Reel is faster than most with ratio speed 6.0:1. This combo might be the best DS combo in the $200 dollar range. Best of luck!
