Shore fishing at Pine Flat???

Post by John F. »

I work in Fresno and do not have access to my boat while there.

I have never been to the lake and wondered if there was any place I that has a decent bank fishing area.

Thanks

John

You'd be better off taking the hour drive over to eastman lake in madera for bank fishing. There is not alot of areas to fish from shore at pineflat. Eastman has larger fish on average as well.

You can fish from the bank at each of the Marinas/launch ramps. It just means a little walking. Years ago before I became a "Boater" I used to walk the bank and did pretty good too !!! The best was Island Park from the point to the right of the ramp all the way back to the camp ground. Good luck !!

My bro lives in clovis and us in tha bay area so when we go down there we used to fish pine flat its alot of rock climbing and a bit difficult but if you are close to drop offs you can get some good spots. We usually go to millerton or hensley now cause its a bit more bank friendly. Pine flat is the only one i know that rents boats so if you're set on that lake its not too expensive and may be worth while to call ahead so they can get you set up! Also call valley rod and gun to see what lake is hot and patterns or who has a tourney stuff like that makes a diff for where we choose to fish sometimes.

You gotta go to Eastman. I havent been there in a few years, but I did grow up aboot 30 min away from there. Go to the west side of the lake and park in the parking lot farthest north possible. I forget what its called. Anyways, I always had the best of luck on Craws and anything with a chartuese(spelling?) tail. If you have the time hike back until you see the signs saying off limits. That area is the best by far on the lake. Just dont go past the signs. If I remember right, Its aboot 3 miles or so. Good luck.
