Share a Lunker Programs?

Post by R watts »

Does anyone think if a Share Lunker Program would benefit California?

We have seen so many big fish coming in lately that it would seem that such a program would benefit the state in the long run.

Texas runs a pretty good program right now and have come up with a great future resource for their state. I know that there has been some transport mortality in some of those fish but that seems to come from handling prior to being picked up, age of the fish ect.

To date they have 399 fish over 13 lbs that have been donated to the program. Many of these fish have been used for breeding and released back into the waters of the state.

Anyway there is some good info on the Texas Parks and Wildlife site below. I was just wondering what some of the anglers around here thought.

Hey Randy,

I think that share a lunker program is a great program. Right now, I don't think CA needs it, but man, if CA did adopt a program like this though, it could mean that generations of fishermen will have the same great fishing we all enjoy.
