Re: 36v LifePo4 100Ah battery
Would you actually be using a single battery that is 36V x 100Ah or would you be using 3 batteries at 12V x 100Ah each? If you go with a single 36V battery you will need a charger that puts out 36V to charge it. Your onboard charger wont do that. Just curious, what company offers the 36V x 100Ah ba...

Re: Lithium batteries / what do I need to know
I would consider the Ionic batteries. Yes, they make a big difference. However, you need to be sure you get a "starter" version of the lithium for your main battery. Not all lithium batteries can start your big motor. The Ionic batteries have a built in bluetooth device that allows you to ...

Hot weather and fish care - don't put ice directly in to the livewells!
There are many videos online about techniques to cool your livewell water. NEVER put ice directly in to the livewells. Ice is made with household water that has chlorine in it. Chlorine is toxic to fish and will kill them...in a short time or perhaps after you have released them. If you have other w...

For 20K, you should be able to find a solid, reliable boat. Key things I would focus on in this order: 1. Condition of boat and major components...seats, compartments, electronics, trolling motor, livewells, carpet, etc. 2. Motor 3. Resale 4. Ride & platform 1&2 are really tied and go hand i...

Should you use a dual purpose deep cycle battery for your cranking battery, so running your electronics and livewell all day doesn't drain it down too far? Yes. Not all deep cycle batteries are created equal. Outboards require a burst of power in the form of CCAs to turn the motors over. Most of ou...

Your electronics should also be considered in determining the size of the cranking battery. Unless you have wired a house battery, everything other than your trolling motor runs from the cranking battery. If you have the new larger displays, they use a lot of power over the course of the day. The He...

Tune-ups? Those are long gone spark plugs intervals are 100k and they go that long trouble free and no fuel filters most trucks haven’t had those since early 2000’s. Diesels need fuel filters every 15-30k miles. Plus you have the added cost of DEF fluid on top of the fuel for any newer diesel. You ...

I have had both. In CA where we pay a premium for diesel (usually more then unleaded 87 and often more than Premium), you aren't going to save $$ even with the better mpg due to the higher cost for diesel and the extra $$ for the diesel engine upgrade. However, you will have better towing ability an...
