Where are you located? I notice that you list a "remote" along with the foot pedals. Is this motor a "Co-Pilot?" Can you use the remote with this motor? Thanks

If you come up to the Sacramento area or somewhere close to Walnut Creek in the near future and you still have the rod, shoot me a PM.

I have a couple of 301Ds in good shape and would be willing to part with one of them though I wouldn't want to ship. Where are you located? I'm in the Sacramento area.

Re: out at the port 12-18

Thanks for your response; that 100 foot figure is interesting. I haven't been out there in a couple of years but on the club's website, there is a copy of the guidelines we agreed to when the club signed the latest agreement with the port. Those guidelines say what I quoted; 250 feet from ships or d...

Re: out at the port 12-18

You were fortunate that the port authorities didn't stop you. In the old days (before 9/11), we used to catch a lot of stripers drifting minnows alongside the dock pilings but we are no longer permitted to do that. Homeland Security and Coast Guard regs at the port of Sacramento require that you sta...

Fish-food, thanks for the clarification. That buddy of mine was one of those people that stays out there all day and used to fish out there at all times of the year so that's probably why he thought trolling was more productive. Sounds like the boil window is pretty narrow but must be great when you...

Re: New Hogan

Never fished it myself but had a friend that used to fish it frequently. His primary method was to troll anchovies mounted in Rotary Killers; used downriggers to get down to the level at which fish were holding. He said it was great if you could spot boils and throw swimbaits or pretty much any lure...

Common to have sea lions/seals around Discovery Park, particularly during the fall salmon run and also during the spring striper run. No, each man did pay $9; $25 kept by the desk clerk plus the $2 kept by the bellboy. That makes $27 that the three men are out ($9each) plus the $3 they got back = $30 that they paid originally.

Help! Sticky Chronarch Handle Grips

Recently got a lightly used Chronarch 101B. Love the reel but the grips are sticky; looks like the guy got some scent product (pro-cure, smelly jelly?) on them because I can still see some specks of glitter. I tried cleaning the grips with hot water and dish soap, Murphy's oil soap, Windex and Formu...

I've recently sent a Lamiglas back and they replaced it within 10 days. Sometimes when you take it to a dealer, the dealer may not send it in right away. They wait until they have several to return; saves on the shipping. That may be why you were quoted such a long time. Call Lamiglas directly; they...

Re: Curado 300; Lefty Version

They make a lefty for the Japanese market. It's a Shimano Speedmaster 201; has 7 to 1 retrieve ratio and up to 6K of drag. Line capacity the same as the US market 300.

You can find these reels on eBay although they're somewhat rare yet.
