Rocky points on main body and coves. The shad are thick right now. You can find the bass smashing them all day, find the shad 15 feet or less. Early morning topwater after that crank and drop shot. I just boated an 8.0lb toad drop shotting last Wednesday, she was smashing shad in 3 feet of water wit...

I second the Delta. I rented a nice home via VRBO.com in Discovery Bay for my bachelor party. It was awesome. Close to fast water, guides available, and generally a very nice place to fish or just hang out.

I fished from a tube for about 6 years. They're a great option if you can't go the boat route. They definitely up your game compared to shore fishing. Check out the Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club forum:

Re: Planning a trip to NorCal in March
I fish out of my 2007 Stratos 176xt w/75HP Evinrude. Pretty similar hull to your Skeeter. I've seen very rough days on both Clearlake and Berryessa, 4-5 foot rollers have had me clearing the prop from the water many times. Days that bad aren't too often. Berryessa has tons of creek arms and coves to...

I second the Delta notion. Obviously drive your boat carefully, but Don't let the Delta intimidate you. If you have GPS and a reliable boat you'll be just fine. Plus you you could hook into some good linesides! I'd just concentrate on Clear Lake and the Delta, unless you really want some spots and s...

I agree with the previous poster, if you're running Humminbird on the dash run one up front as well so you can link them. I'd also get a unit that is 360 compatable so you have the option of getting the trolling motor mounted 360 transducer down the road.

Plenty of storage on my boat so I take all my tackle, but I only bring the rods I need usually between 6 and 10. I cut back quite a bit on tackle if I'm fishing smaller bodies of water from my float tube, but again bring at least 6 rods.

Without knowing time of year or water temp I'd have to go with a dropshot (I hate drop shotting but it works). But typically I'll start with a spinnerbait to find fish followed by a jig.

Throw it with a swimbait rod and reel. Rig it with weighted EWG hooks, how much weight depends on how fast you want the fall to be and how deep you want it to run. Fish it like any other swimbait but you can get it threw grass easier since it's weedless. You can let it sink all the way before starti...
