If you have really old lines, then it probably would be best to change them, but regardless, start using and using with each fillup the Stabil Marine additive, which stops damage from the Ethynol in our fuel. For what it is worth, I have four rods built by Beach.. They are my favorite rods, amongst some of the other name brand rods I have and use. two are baitcasters and two are spin/drop shot. You can not go wrong with his rods built to your wants and needs. Bill K

I like 4 to 8 lb flouroclear by P-Line. Depending on what I am fishing. Of late, however, I have been spooling with 8lb Fireline Crystal as my main line, then adding a 6 ft flouro leader. That is working super, no more fluffing off the reel and it has zero memory. Bill K
