F350.... in order to give you the correct answer, you need to give us your WOT rpms, speed (GPS) and the height settings of the prop. If you have a jackplate, were it is set. You also need to provide us with the max rpm's your motor is supposed to turn. I would bet that there is a better prop for yo...

They don't call them (Rangers) lead sleds for nothing. I know my 492VS has come close to 77GPS with a 27P Tempest. I also know that there are guys running the same motor (Simon Motorsports 335HP) as mine back east on Gamblers, Strokers and Bullets up to 103mph GPS. It's all about the design of the h...

Re: is it really as tuff at clear lake as everyone says?
I know that I went 2 1/2 weeks ago and fished 3 days. I caught 31,42 and 27 on each of those days. the first day was only a little more than 1/2 day. Went back last week and the algae was totally in bloom. Launched out of the oaks and felt like I was backing the Ranger into shag carpet  . Any...

Re: Speaking of Fury props
Get yourself a Bravo 1 4-blade prop worked by Mark Croxton (Indiana). I have had 4 of them, and if you are looking to go slow on pad, my 22' Ranger will run as slow as 16mph on pad. There is no blow out when you get on it, and this prop will corner like no other,

I had that happen on my Ranger earlier this year. I called Eric Simon at Simon Motorsports (From the lake), and he walked me through checking the ground, to turning the dial on the back of the tach. 5-10mins later, it was business as usual. He said sometimes a little moisture can affect the tach, an...

I can tell you that smallie beavers in watermelon red around incoming water in the middle will get you to the 50 fish mark. Most will be slot fish, but some of the bigger fish I caught yesterday were hanging off the edges in 20' of water. It is a serious mush bite, the dinks are smacking the baits, ...

Re: Looking for advice on how to drive in rough water.
I've found that trimming down and allowing the vee to cut the waves helps out as well. I run a Bravo 1 4 blade prop on my 492VS Ranger. It allows me to stay on plane as slow as 15mph, and never blows out... it is a big off shore racing prop that has a ton of surface areas on the blades at 15" d...

I would think that if you are certified quagga free at one California lake (Clear Lake), that you should be good to go at another. At this point it's all about revenue and not that little mussel IMO.

KB, you are right on the money. Everyone thinks their Ranger is going to smoke the competition, but these boats just aren't designed for speed. Sure the new Z Series will get you a bit more on top end, but at the end of the day if you are touching 70, you are doing better than most. I run a Ranger, ...

Wicked, first of all most 26P Tempest are junk out of the box until worked by a good prop guy. Mark Croxton gets all my business. He has worked more than a half dozen props for me, and they always perform better than expected. If you are running a lead sled Ranger, don't expect to run 70-75 with a f...

Re: Lamiglas warranty $$$$$ WOW
Robert, I hope you're not dumping your rods because they won't warranty it if you break it swinging a fish in the boat. No rods are designed to swing fish in a boat. Many people do without ever having a rod failure, others break them routinely and then complain because the rod was of a poor design. ...

Kb, my mention of KVD being ballsy was from the perspective of believing that the fish was definately hooked in the back (no where near the head), so as to say that the fish may have been snagged. I wasn't trying to get that argument going, but hooked in the back is a bit different than near the mouth. Twister, the motor is dyno'd at 335HP. It moves my 22' Ranger pretty good. I ran a B/B 27P A45 Tempest 76.24gps. When I run my Bravo 1 Props, it will top out at 74-75mph. But hang on, because the Bravo 1 will lift that boat up and slingshot it out of the hull in about 3-4 seconds.
