fished yesterday and had quite a good day......25 fish betwen 2-4lbs. I will make this event for sure! The second half may be a little tougher, but still plenty of fish and areas to catch fish!

I use a G Loomis IMX 783 with 8-10lb. flouro. I throw a 3/8 to 1/2 oz. Arkie head jig that I can slide over the bottom on a tight line while using my reel and not my rod to slide it....the only time I use the rod on the retrieve is to pop it over a potential hang-up. good idea but with so few wardens down here in so cali it is kinda pointless if u cant enforce it. I agree. DFG doesn't want anymore rules whatsoever. Being through the So. Ca. MLPA process, you can see the DFG is undermanned and the last thing they want is anything within a grey area. Simple rules...

not a trick, just the way I use a jig. This has been working for me recently and forever even during a non-existing bite at Lake Castaic as they are filling it up right now. Long cast away from the boat. Let it sit for a COUPLE of minutes letting the area "relax" after the jig has settled ...

you can send it directly to the Daiwa repair office (save time and gas). Most of the time it's cheaper to do it this way too, small shops / businesses charge a bit more and are not as dialed in on one brand like the original manufacturer would be. If you really like flouro on spinners, use a good braid with a flouro leader. Daiwa Samurai is the best braid you can buy, super smooth 8 strand uncoated, it casts a mile. This works great for worms and jigs but I still like straight flouro for reaction baits....Toray is awesome but Maxima is really...

too bad you had a bad experience with Samurai. I too have casted off spinnerbaits and other heavier baits but on the lighter Samurai stuff (30lb. or lower). Since then I've used the 55lb. and up to 80lb. I have not had any issues whatsoever and my 55 / 70 or 80lb. and it is thinner / softer/ smoothe...

I hear some private boats are being allowed to fish DV. Launching off a dirt ramp or something?.....sounds like the "Good Old Boy" network is still alive and well. Kinda not cool to those that aren't in the loop, but use that lake as their primary.
