I use a crankbait rod for all my Piranha Swim Jig fishing. This is why, it gives the fish a few extra seconds to put some pressure on the hook point. I do not like setting the hook to hard. If you boil your swimbaits to get any oil out of them. This will allow you to put any color you want on them.
Besides this boiling will get the plastic even softer, just what you need for slow rolling.

Start using smaller soft body swimbaits. This way you won`t get worn out. If you want to learn, you have to just stay with it. Fish slow and tight to cover. Fish will be as shallow as they can get, that dirtie water will warm up quick if the sun comes out in afternoon.
