with all due respect to professional angler Andy, but he has mis-informed everyone on how to tie the albright knot, at the end of his demonstration.
To finish the knot, you need to follow the line the way it came in thru the first loop, and go out in the same direction, which means it goes out OPPOSITE the way it came in. This is very common with all knots; you follow out the way you came in.
(ex - if you started the knot by coming in from the bottom on the first loop, you finish the knot by going down from the top, thru the loop).
This ensures that both lines are going the same direction when tightened down.
see attached image for completed knot reference, and you notice that both ends out the loop are going in the same direction - 1 in from bottom, 1 out from the top.
We practiced this a lot at the Berkley booth at the ISE sports show this past weekend. Be sure to come see us next year and learn the proper way to tie all your knots, and we will test it right there for you with our knot wars machine.
good luck,
