Sad news

Post by Rick G »

Last night in Tennessee John Bures of JB Worms fame passed away. Great guy that was one of the best handpoured worm makers for years in So.Cal. Moved East to relax and get away from the hussle of California. Never got to fish. Makes you think about how you spend your time for sure. R.I.P. You were one of the best. Rick Grover

That sucks to hear ......

JB custom poured me an Awesome order of grubs last lear that I still use today for slipt-shotting. Found his link here on the old picture page if I remember correctly.... talked with him on the phone for a spell and he was very excitable and friendly with ideas that I was looking to have poured.

I would of loved to order from him again ~ but he sent me doubble the order of what I asked for at no extra cost ! ~ and I am still not even 1/3ard the way though them as of yet.

Thanks again for the baits Mr. Bures.
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

The saddest of news. John was a great man. I loved sitting in his garage and stewing over ideas for colors. The man makes the best hand poured baits there are. I'm glad I got one last big shipment before he moved. I took him out to DVL just because he never got to go..great friend and mentor. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family. I'm sticking a pig for ya JB

Sorry to hear of John's passing.
He was a friend, colleague and confidant.
A gentlemen in every meaning of the word.

The Fisherman's Prayer

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast
I than most humbly pray,
whein in the Lord's great
landing net and peacefully asleep
that in him mercy I be judged big enough to keep.

I heard the tragic news yesterday and just wanted to give my condolences to the Bures family. I've worked at Anglers Marine and have been dealing with J.B. and his wife for five years now. Besides pouring some of the best handpours i've ever used, he was also a good friend. I've done very well in tournaments on his worms and have even won a boat with my tournament partner Frank Morrin, using his plastics. JB had helped me out in developing custom colors and I could always count on him if I ever needed anything. The bass fishing world will never be the same, rest in peace my friend.

Well Said Will.
I started fishing with J.B baits many years ago when I started in a club. I still have colors that he only made for me and still catch fish on them when I need to get that 1 bite. Thanks for all the great memories.
