The first thing about this reel that really stands out is how light it is. It is just 6.2 ounces for the 20 size I have, which is almost two ounces less than comparable reels from other brands. I'm usually not that into saving a half ounce here or there, but it makes a big difference when its two ounces.

It has a bunch of other features on the drag and casting technology. It also comes with a spare spool that is just as good as the one attached to the reel, which I have started using more and more as I switch between different braid sizes for different applications.

The real test will be to see how it does on the water. But my first impression is very good. Retail is $299 which puts it pretty close to the Shimano Sustain which I own and love. It will be interesting to see which one I like more after fishing the MGX.
