Revenge Viberator?

Post by fishbonz412 »

I was looking at these baits at various places, and noted that Tackle Warehouse did not have any. Not in stock. Not even listed as an item they sell. Tackle warehouse usually sells out of the outgoing stuff pretty fast, and seems to have the new stuff pretty fast too, so it seems maybe Revenge is not making them anymore? Any word on why that is?

Everyone and their brother makes and sells a vibrating jig bait.
How in the world can Revenge be called out for making and selling them?
I could see if they were calling theirs a Chatterbait, but they're not, so what gives?

The good people at Zman are suing everyone and their mother that makes a vibrator or a blade for one. Great precident for tackle manufacturers....crappy outcome for fisherman stuck w/ chatterbaits that fall apart in the package.

It sure seems a little late in the game to be suing. The Chatterbait came out 5+- years ago, around 2006, didn't it?

If anyone here knows the whole story behind the Zman lawsuits I would love to know. I own a very small custom bait company and my version of the vibrating jig was a huge success for me, especially back in Texas where they all loved the Phenix bait. I know of quit a few companies served with the unfortunate cease and dissest and I pulled the bait from my product line. Plain and simple every vibrating jig made since the Zman is better. I hope someone figures this all out and the bait companies that make awesome bladed jigs can get back to manufacturing anything better than a ChatterBait.

ZMan has a patent on the "Chatterbait" design. This is the reason for the all the letters going out to any lure manufacture whether you make one or not. Pretty much any manufacture who makes bass lures received a letter about the patent. If they deemed your product to be within the patent then you received a cease letter telling you if you continue to make the lure you will be sued in court. Phenix was sued and most know the outcome.

ZMan has a lot of money and resources to sue all the smaller lure manufactures. If the makers of the A-Rig get their patent, with Manns backing, they will do the same as ZMan.

Someone mentioned above why it took so long, ZMan started the patent process right after they released the original chatterbait on the market. It takes a lot of time to receive a patent. Once they received it, it was pretty much game on and they had home field advantage.

I'm not a proud man, I knocked off revenges mold. Lol. I can pour them. Heaviest I got is 1/4 ounce so they suck. Got a 3/8 and 1/2 ounce mold in the mill but it's going to be a while. I don't have a CNC machine so it's all slow cutting and bad math.
