I will be replacing the stickers on my boat and was
curious to the best way to remove the old ones?
I usually use acetone but this can not be good
for the glass. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
removing stickers from fiberglass boats
Re: removing stickers from fiberglass boats
I use a blow dryeer to help get them off, then use I think it's called Gum-Off. It's a yellow can with red writing, it looks like an old lighter fluid can, I've had not problems.
Maybe Corey Fenske from Sticky-Graphics.com, can help more here.

I just did mine the other day and used charcoal lighter fluid. It seemed to work ok for me and I just waxed the boat afterwards.

Everyone is correct about removing the old stickers. Heat. There are many ways to do this. Hair dryer, heat gun both work great.
As for removing the glue. Acetone is fine on fiberglass/ gelcoat. In fact it is recomended, so that you get a good clean surface to apply the next decal. If you use Gum-off, lighter fluid, denatured alchol, of any other oil based solvent cleaners, make sure you use acetone to clean the area after. These cleaners will leave an oilly residue behind, and even though your sticker may go on OK, it could come off. Water is really hard on stickers that dont have a good hold. It acts like a chisle, and peels them right off.
I'm not sure what type of decals you are going to put of, but if the are the drip mold type( raised, with a clear coat) then dont try to use any solution under them to make sure they go on straight. A lot of people use soapy water. The glue on those stickers wont hold after.
If there is any thingelse I can help you with, please feel free to give me a call and I will walk you through it, or answer any questions.

Thanks Guys! With all the dock dings it is time to replace all my
stickers. I found a pretty good place to order custom stickers
so if you have some that are hard to replace you can try
making them here. I am not affiliated with them just a
happy customer
