rainbow trout swimbait for Chabot etc?

Post by Big Rick KFOG »

Wow those are expensive! I Was at Outdoor Pro Shop and wanted to buy one to fish Lake Chabot but thought I'd ask here first.

What brand does anybody like, or what to stay away from? What do you use to throw them? I think the closest thing I have to what might work is a salmon mooching rod!

"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

"OK guys, Who brought the banana?"

OK - is this the real Big Rick? The one that I met working the door at DNA in between firings from KQAK?
If so, bro - I'll give you my trout bait (an osprey). I'll even take ya out on the Delta in a couple of weeks - in trade, all I ask is stories and answers to a few questions that I've always had about the old station. If ya wanna go, just drop me a PM.

p.s. The bait of choice these days is the Huddleston or Castaic. Some swear by the triple trout or generic trout - personally, i just can't see spending that kind of money. If you still live in San Leandro, you really should stop by Walton's on Washington and talk to him about swimbaits. He'll hook you up. And it's close to Chabot too. He knows Chabot like a tweaker knows the veins on their arms.

I'm in Oakland, but close enough. Good tip I forgot about that place. How heavy of a rod do I need to throw those things?

Dont waste your time fishing swimbaits at Chabot. Go to the delta. Chabot is very disheartning unless you are a trout fisherman, and for now, as brown as the furniture in your living room. I dont expect to see clearing water there for months
never give up, be possitive and patient, and you will be rewarded
