QUESTION ON FRONT BOW ROLLER
JUST GOT MY WHOLE WRINCH AND BOW ROLLER REPLACED ON MY RANGER TRAILER BECAUSE MY FRIEND PANICED WHEN HE LAUNCHED ME THE BOAT SLAMED IT TO WRINCH HE THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS GOING IN TO THE WATER INSTEAD OF STEEPING ON THE BRAKE HE HIT THE GAS AND THE BOAT HIT THE BOW BOAT DIDNT GET A SCRACTH THANK GOD BUT JUST LIKE TO KNOW IF THE FRONT ROLLER SUPPOSE TO MOVE FREELY OR STAIONARY THANKS FOR THE INFOR GEORGE
Re: QUESTION ON FRONT BOW ROLLER
George, if you have the v-block style, they usually are fixed and work better if they do not rock/move. The roller type work best if they roll, so the bow slides up easier. Bill K

Re: QUESTION ON FRONT BOW ROLLER
George,
Sorry to hear about your incident. Just be glad nothing is wrong with the boat!
All trailers are different. Even within Ranger, they use many different brands of trailers over the years, so how the bow post mounts and works is going to be different for each person.
From what i've seen, most posts though are hard mounted to the trailer tongue and don't move an inch. But, some i have seen do move/jiggle/ or otherwise are loose due to the way they are mounted to the tounge. This is just some movement, but not significant amount (1-3in).
But none that i have seen move excessively or are shock absorbant to withstand the impact you mentioned.

IF ITS A ROLLER, IT SHOULD ROLL, IF V TYPE THAT IS BETTER TO SLIDE YOUR BOAT INTO, WE USE BOAT BUDDIES HERE WITH BOTH OUR BOATS, SLIDE IN EASY, SLOW, HEAR A CLICK AND PULL IT OUT, GO TO PARKING LOT, WINCH THE BOW DOWN TIE DOWN TRANSOM, AND MOTOR TOTER AND OFF YOU GO....

Re: QUESTION ON FRONT BOW ROLLER
I just had one side of my Ranger Bow Roller break off. The Rangers Have a notch cut in them so they wont roll. I dont know why. I replaced mine w/ the Stoltz brand roller in Bass Pro Shops $29. Very nice roller. They roll also so I think it helps in loading. The outter bells are a little larger also which I like. When ordering, measure the inner roller for size. I think my 99 518 ranger had the 3" inner roller.
