Scott Martin Quits Bassmaster Elite Series

Post by WB Staff »

B.A.S.S. officials confirm that Elite Series angler Scott Martin has voluntarily withdrawn from B.A.S.S. competition for the remainder of 2025. A formal protest was submitted on March 28 concerning Martin; however, he chose to step away from the Elite Series before the B.A.S.S. investigation process concluded and prior to the administration of an official truth verification exam.

Good for Scott Martin he'll stay busy the marina doing shows fishing fun tournaments. 2025 was his last year fishing bass so go quit now and enjoy your family and spend time with them. BASS better start getting it together or they wont be around in other 5 years. Too much drama on bass part.

Can’t blame organization for investigating protest and enforcing the rules. Seems to me he put himself in the position. Own it.

The issue apparently was he talked to someone about another "similar" lake 7 months ago to see what conditions were like. So BASS allows forward facing sonar during the tournament but you can't talk to someone in the area before the tournament, that's ridiculous...enough said. BASS better figure things out quickly or they're done.

information rules violations have been going on for decades! BASS is fully aware what is going on! it’s just a question of who they want to single out and punish! Scott has a target on his back and if you watch his video he explains that he has been targeted by someone attempting to ruin his reputation!

This is to bad, seams like a good guy. I saw a video of his when he picked up a random Kid that was fishing from shore ( with his Grandpa's permission) and take the kid out fishing. He was very kind and they both poked fun at each other and had a great time it looked like.

I met Scott in Alabama he is a great guy. Whatever so called help he got is BS. If I suggested you fish Franks Tract with crankbaits could you go out and win a tournament. Shame on the angler that ratted him out.

For a guy that is a supposed cheater why hasn't won, or even place in the top 10 and not even in the top 50. Set up to me.
but Bass sure utilized him and Roland at the classic.

B.A.S.S has never needed Scott Martin. He hasn’t even done well. Unfortunately, Roland was a known rule pusher and a reason for a lot of the rules today. Scott’s story sounds fishy, and he didn’t take the polygraph. I’ve always liked him, but it seems strange. He admitted to giving the guy waypoints. Think he did that for no reason?

From my understanding he is not well liked by his peers. He is wealthier than most and a bit arrogant. The wealth and popularity can be a benefit. It would be great to hear from KVD about this topic. Unfortunately he won’t talk about it or his discussions with BASS during the end of his term.

Do you think BASS wanted to DQ him? The answer is No...He's one of the few pro's they have that has name recognition. BASS has always stood behind integrity unlike FLW/MLF. Scott was cheating or bending the rules just like his Daddy did before this was considered cheating. Evidently his peers didn't like him doing this crap either so they set him up for a fall. Scott wasn't smart enough to realize whatever little bit of help he was getting wasn't helping him in the least. He could of done it all on his own but the ghosts in his head was telling him otherwise. This is not on B.A.S.S. as they're just upholding their rules no matter how ridiculous they are.

A VERY reliable source told me Scott is your buddy when he needs something from you and he also confirmed Scott is a cheater.

He took a polygraph but I don't think it was from BASS it was one he paid for. When he got DQ'd from Okeechobee he claimed he "self reported" the violation which was a lie and BASS let him get away saying that on the air. If he can lie so easily then he is capable of anything. He had me fooled.

All this horseshit going on between B.A.S.S and Scott Martain not going to hurt his reputation and he will survive this minor epasiod. Just move on it's a new day and everybody will get over it. I'm sure Scott Martin has.
