boarding ladder
boarding ladder
At 88 and still love to fish Daughter Sandi wants to install a boarding ladder on her Nitro Bass boat just in case I would fall overboard. Anybody know somebody who does a good job installing them. Be great if they were in the Lakeport area. Thanks
Re: boarding ladder
Good luck brother I hope to still be fishing at 88!

Re: boarding ladder
The problem using transom mounted boat ladder when you are older is not being strong enough to climb onto the boat unless the ladder has hand handles to assist you.
whatever you decide on make the ladder device has hand handles. I kept a heavy rope loop attached to the rear pedestal post to help me climb back into the boat using transom ladder with 3 steps and worked OK in my 70’s, today in the 80’s not strong enough to do that anymore and don’t have a boat anymore for that reason.
Keep fishing

Re: boarding ladder
Thanks Tom, Hey Jiggin, hope your feeling better. Water cool off a lot so the fishing slowed down but it has warmed up so it looks like the fish are staging some. Haven't been out lately but as usual still rely on your puff ball jigs

X2 It is hard to climb those ladders with a full inflated life jacket on, even with help.WRB wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 10:34 am The problem using transom mounted boat ladder when you are older is not being strong enough to climb onto the boat unless the ladder has hand handles to assist you.

Re: boarding ladder
Hey Mark, I may be dumb but not stupid. At 88 no way to fish alone. At this p[oint it doesn't look like any ladders fit the configuration of the transom of this boat. I would of liked to find one for Sandi though as she fishes some small lakes in the Watsonville area. Thanks for all of the help and advise guys and Jiggin, get well!

When I bought my boat from my cousin he had one of these mounted on the jack plate. So far I haven’t had to use it and hope to never have to. It’s very compact and inconspicuous

Re: boarding ladder
COC-LF ladder could be mounted onto 3/4”marine plywood and mount the plywood to the deck wherever it fits. You may need 2X4 blocks to raise and clear the boat side gunnel but doable.
