Ken Mah Self-Reports Possible 5MPH Zone Infraction at BAM Pro/Am
Ken Mah Self-Reports Possible 5MPH Zone Infraction at BAM Pro/Am
An investigation was conducted following a self-report on Sunday morning by pro angler Ken Mah during the BAM Pro/Am at Lake Don Pedro.
Ken proactively reached out to BAM Trail Tournament Director, Michael Bray, regarding a section in the Hatch Creek Arm of the reservoir, which appeared to be poorly marked. His inquiry sought clarification on the 5MPH zones and the beginning of the ski course, which does not fall under a 5MPH regulation.
Investigation & Resolution
To determine the correct ruling, the following steps were taken:
Consultation with Don Pedro Lake Camping, Boating and Fishing. Brannon Gomes, Recreation Division Manager of Lake Don Pedro.
A Visual inspection of the area in question.
Final ruling: No infractions occurred, and no official protest was filed. His final position is 68 Place with 15.91 Pounds.
Clarifications from Brannon Gomes:
All restrooms have a 200 feet no wake zone. The ski area is not a 5MPH zone; however, boaters must yield to skiers when present to ensure safety.
**(Further clarifications will be issued for the BAM Super 60 event next month.)
Officials will review and assess the clarity of visual markers to improve signage for all recreational boaters.
BAM Tournament officials have reviewed the area, consulted with lake authorities, and worked with the angler and competitors to ensure a fair and accurate resolution.
Thank you,
Michael Bray
BAM Tournament Director
