I appologize for the late posting.

Thanks for being so patient waiting for the results. There was an unforeseen emergency. Again, thanks for waiting on the juice.

Cal Bass Nation held its qualifier event at Clear Lake where the top 10 percent qualify for the Bassmaster Kayak tournament in Texas and fish the final Bassmaster event the same week as the Bassmaster Classic but on a different lake compared to the Elite anglers. The top ten angler weigh in at the Bassmaster stage just before the Elites weigh in on their day one of the classic. We wish all the anglers from West Coast the best of luck and may they represent the West Coast with several top ten finishes. Good Luck fellas.

Drew Boles swim baited his way to the win with 96.50” besting second place by 1.50”. Boles stated he used a variety of swim baits to catch his fish on the North end of clear lake. He worked a 50-yard stretch of bank that produced his winning bag by 9 AM.

“I started off with a popper because I had caught some nice fish first thing in the morning.” stated Boles, “After about 15 minutes without a bite, I ditched the topwater.”

“I started off throwing some smaller baits, but still didn’t get a bite.” expressed Boles, “Once the sun came out, I started to throw the Mag Draft and caught my first fish on my third cast with the Mag Draft.”

“I was focusing on the tule lines and grass edges with the large Mag Draft and had got a few short strikes so I switched up to a larger Keitech Fat Impact.” declared Boles, “I caught some smaller fish in the 17-to-18-inch fish.”

“After about 15 minutes, I caught a 20” bass on the Keitech.” announced Boles, “I had got a few bites but the bass were short striking the swim bait.” proclaimed boles, “I just kept going over the same 50-yard stretch of bank changing up the swim baits sizes and colors to keep culling up with longer fish.”

“All my winning fish came on the Mag Draft but the Keitech helped me fill my limit of bass. publicized Boles, "There was a fish activity window between 6 AM to 8 AM and the next bite window was at 2 to 3 PM. After the tournament hours.”

“The key depth was 10 feet of water; this is where all my better fish came from, it was a ditch that was just a few feet deeper.” reported. Boles, “Even though my practice fishing was much better, and I thought it would take 100” to win, it sure felt great to get my first win on such a paramount tournament. It feels great to qualify for the Bassmaster kayak tournament in Texas.”

Boles thanked his wife and kids for all their support. Kong Moua for hosting a great event, the awesome trophy, and everyone else that has supported me in the past and future.

Rindy Her finished in second place with 95.00” just missing winning the event by 1.5”. Her used a topwater to catch his fish first thing in the morning. Once the sun popped up, he used the drop shot to catch more fish to cull up to his second-place finish.

“First thing in the morning, I used a Lucky Craft Sammy topwater bait to put a limit into the boat.” pronounced Her, “Once the sun was up and the morning topwater bait stopped, I changed up to a drop shot.”

“I have never caught so many topwater fish as I did that morning at Clear Lake.” declared Her, “It was a first for me to catch so many fish on a top water bait, it was insane.”

“After the topwater bait stopped, I started to drop shot Pro Worms in about 5 to 10-feet of water.” expressed Her, “I still went back to the topwater bait but the fish kept on missing the bait.”

“I used the drop shot along docks in shade pockets to cull up some fish as the day went along.” articulated Her, “I had an 18” fish and then the next cast I caught a 20” bass.”

Her thanked Bass Nation and Kong Moua for hosting such a great event. Also, my buddy Da Vang for putting me on the fish.

Matthew Bray finished in third place with 94.50” just missing second place by .5”. Bray used a mixture of frogs to catch his limit. The last few minutes of the tournament, Bray caught a few fish that pushed his to his third-place finish.

“I arrived on Wednesday to do some practice fishing. I knew that I was going to fish shallow throughout the day.” expressed Bray, “On Thursday, I found some fish in the shade of trees that were willing to eat a frog.”

“It was a pretty decent bite in the shade of the trees.” conveyed Bray, “I was not swinging on any of the fish but decided to hammer one, it was a 6-pounder.”

“I had around 12 bites during the day but the afternoon was when the frog bite was best.” vocalized Bray, “I knew with the short afternoon time available to fish that I had a limited time to get the job done in the afternoon.”

“I had also found that the primrose held fish, but they were tricky to get out of the strong stringy vines so I had to make my cast precise, just on the edge of the vines.” communicated Bray, “It was a late afternoon bite too.”

“I never did find an early morning bite so I had to rely on my afternoon bite with the sun high in the sky and the shade pockets.” indicated Bray, “I was able to call my shot knowing the exact area the fish was using to set up to feed.”

“I worked the trees and primrose areas during the tournament when the sum was high in the sky.” specified Bray, “In the morning during the tournament, I did catch one fish on a buzz bait.”

“I had to keep my head level because I knew that the bass were going to bite late in the day.” stipulated Bray, “It was around 1PM when I had got my first bite on the frog, it was a 19” bass.”

“Once the afternoon was just right, I moved to the primrose and the duck weed.” specified Bray, “I caught a 19” in the primrose. I knew I had to get one more giant to push myself to the top.”

“At 12:50 PM, I ran to my last spot that I had a bite on Thursday, I casted my frog to the duck weed and primrose and caught a 21.75” said Bray, “It felt nice to get those last few bites in the last few minutes of the tournament.”

Bray thanked NuCanoe for all their support. My dad, wife and kids for all their support.
